that mounts fits well mate, but as i said on msn, i made it "wrong" as i made it to sit on the other nuts meaning the ecu would be in it more, but i said how to change it if you want too, just a hole or 2 in it and you can flip it :)

Smo :How available are those 2.0 decals?

I made a load a few years ago when Henry wanted one but I can't find them anywhere :(

Car's coming on so well though, Clark... You'll love this more than the Turbo soon

they are availible from ford until they remove them from service. Which could be any time to be honest.
jay has one still in the bag if you want the finis number :)

id love a RS1800/XR3i version of that sticker :)

that really sounds rough low down, but it seems to go fine higher up the rev range

quite odd

Well it made it to Fitp and back which i was worried it wasnt tbh.
oil level remains ok as long as i dont floor it. Which is very hard to do in a car that weighs naff all with all that power

I gave gav my car keys saturday afternoon to give it a test drive to see what he thinks.
Couple of short videos :P

began to strip engine bay this evening.
going to drop the complete engine and gearbox then remove head and get the bare block on the engine stand to do a bit more investigating.

Just wish i would of known before i fitted the lump and i would of saved myself alot of effort and time. :(

im thinking if the lump costs too much to sort i may go blacktop.
but there are a few things that will need changing to suit the engine

Gutted mate, there's nothing worse than having to go back over what you've already done. Still, every cloud has a silver lining and all that, I'm sure it will be back better than it is now.

engine removed sunday evening. Head removed to find cylinder 2 leaking oil past the rings into the chamber the exhaust valves are coated in oil compared the the other valves are a nice white colour.
Will post pics up later on tonight.

havent solved the knocking yet as pistons and crank are still fitted the block. Bottom crank pulley is seized onto the crank nose.

Pictures from sunday...

Image

Sunday afternoon i got cracking on the bay

Image

Running gear removed - drive shafts kept in to prevent loss of the cat piss oil.

Image

Engine removed , put on the stand then head removed.

Image

Close up of the head - cylinder 2 has been letting oil past the rings into the combustion chamber hence the black oily exhaust valves.

Image

Close up of the piston - i turned over the engine by hand and saw the oil going up and down the bore.

Image

Oil pick up had loads of carbon / sludge - im very lucky this engine didnt have any oil starvation issues :o

Image
Image

In other news the mondeo servo was fitted after i drilled out the mounting bracket slightly. the holes had to be made a tad bigger for the mounting studs.
Other good news was all 4 brake lines reached the new master cylinder. No need to make up new lines :D

Is it just shadow in that photo or are the two inlet valves sitting proud in cyl #2?

so with the mondeo servo, do you just undo it from the back where it meets the brackets, or do you take the brackets off from inside the car?

You need to mod the actuator rod on the esocrt one, mondeo is straight fit apart from extending the bolt holes.
