Very nice, that box will be pretty nice on the 2.0. I seem to remember the 1st gear being short on the diesel boxes but don't quote me!

Like Jon says, a Puma or ZS linkage will go nice with that, the feel is so nice and it won't be double-sprung like it will be with your current linkage! I drove mine for the first time with the iB5 today and having the centre return spring in the linkage too makes it a bit heavy to use.

not sure whether the puma linkage will fit the mk2.

i may need to remove the stabilizer bar and replace it with the mk2 stabilizer bar and give it a go.
that is what i did with the mk3 linkage to convert from 4 speed to 5 speed

i got a gearbox spacer plate today from ford
i ordered a late escort zetec item with rear starter. but it dont seem to fit the bottom of the gearbox at all.
Every thing lines up at the top and starter

anybody else seen this before when they have used a ib5 gearbox ?

it came from a escort diesel yes

but that spacer plate is for a 1.6 zetec engine ?
all ib5 gearbox's have same casings

as i said on text mate, it might be a mondeo one, as the mondeo sump has hols to bolt through to gearbox, so hence why i said it might be a mondeo one

Are you sure that's the right gearbox shim? The angle at the bottom looks like it's from a black top/Zetec-E...

Not all iB5's have the same casing, although your Diesel housing should mate up to 95% of the Zetec sump holes.

Just read your post and the 1.6 reference - did you get a plate for a 1.6 Zetec-SE rather than Zetec-E?

i put the reg number in ecat from my work colleagues S reg 1.6 zetec escort - which is a silvertop zetec with ib5 gearbox.

so i gathered that would fit my silvertop engine with ib5 gearbox :-?

i raised a technical enquiry with ford in germany over this incorrect spacer plate. They are saying that this mtx75 plate replaces all previous versions.
Clearly wrong
The Ford technical department have asked me to raise a check to print with DCL. They got back to me today and said the stock is wrong. The correct spacer plate is being located and sent to my branch next week.

fingers crossed someone knows they have made a boo boo

So this "correct" one that is being source, will this be a different part number to what we were talking about earlier in the year and were unable to obtain because it was no longer available?

the so called correct item turned up this morning and is exactly the same as the 1st one i ordered. Between dcl and ford technical they both think a mtx75 plate will fit a ib5.

back to the drawing board :(
