Fiesta Mk3 Cougar V6 mods....

Postby waterboy on Wed Jun 06, 2007 12:07 pm

Hello all! A friend of mine has recently killed his rather nice Cougar V6 and has kindly offered it to me for parts, big question is... does anyone know what, if any, bits can be used?

I kinda liked the brakes but obviously the V6 is 5 stud, can the calipers be utilised though? Would love to convert to rr disks too if pos, anyone ever tried it with these???

Only other bits I had initially intended to rob were the lush leather seats, although if anyone knows of anything else that will transfer across ok I would be grateful! Likewise if anyone fancies anything from it that im not going to be brave enought to use I can rip it off and post at reasonable rates...has anybody tried fitting the v6 and box in a festa yet?

V6 Coguar uses the same brakes as the v6 mondeo (same as Cossie calipers) so with the right discs the will fit the fezza.

:D Thats immense! Torque steer here we come, yup sure it is the same lump, are you using the mondeo box? How much of a nightmare did you have with driveshafts etc? Top marks for giving it a go!

Yeah its the mondy box. Ive got a company going to make the driveshafts from scratch for me £280 the pair.

Biggest problem ive come across so far is I cant find anywhere to put the alternator :-? . it normally sits at the back but the fiesta chassis leg is in the way. other than that its been fairly(?) straight forward up to now.

Oh, and i have to extend the whole engine loom by about 6 inches, thats not going to be much fun

What about things like ecu, what you using or is standalone managment.

Also would taking the top of the slam panel off affect the strength?

ill be using the standard mondeo ecu. I just bought everything associated with the engine from a scrap mondeo V6 and am pretty much using it all.

As for the slam panel.......it will not be staying like that. I cant really put a standard panel back on, but I will be fabricating something to put in its place, if only to keep the bonnet shut lol
