Fiesta mk3 lx fuel problems.

Postby eyvind123 on Mon Feb 24, 2014 6:38 pm

Hello. I have a mk3 fiesta lx and its my first car and i love it. The car was given to me and it had been sitting for a while with a faulty ignition barrel, so naturally i had it changed over for a new one with different keys but once changed the car would not fire. If fuel was manually injected it would fire on all cylinders and fuel could be sucked through the system so i assumed a faulty pump was the issue. I have removed the tank and the pump and i checked the pump with connection straight from the battery and it works fine and when plugged into the 5 pin adapter from the loom the fuel gauge is responsive to movement so some current is going to the pins. However when the ignition is set to the second stage i cannot hear the pump prime, or feel, or hear anything on attempting to turn it over. So i was wondering where the wires that provide power to the pump go, i can see and follow then in a a bundle but lose them under the carpet, so if someone could please help me locate the path through the cabin they take i would be grateful. And is there a specific type of barrel needed for this model of car that may be preventing the pump from being primed and activated?

Thanks

If you have immobiliser keys you will need to recode the new key or lay next to the immobiliser module.
