Fiesta Mk5 Zetec S Tuning???

Postby PhilsFiesta.8k.Com on Thu Mar 25, 2004 2:17 pm

Im about to choose a zetec s over a 106gti and i was wondering what sort of potential the zetec block has? i know of a "blue" chip (i think) and the usual full stainless steel exhausts and air filters & piper cams but what sort of power do they give roughly?? what other tuning mods are there?

Thanks,
Phil

as much as i love fiestas i wouldnt get a zetec s over 106 gti unless i was planning a 2.0 or zetec turbo conversion as a 106 wud woop a zetec s as std and probably woop it if the zetec s lump was tuned.

As above. The only non arguable issues where the Fiesta is noticeably superior to the 106 is build quality and interior space, really... the 106 accelerates quicker, brakes harder, corners faster and its an overall better balanced hot hatch.

If you want to know how far one can push the 1.6 Zetec engine with the usual bolt on goodies, try http://www.ukfiestanetwork.co.uk/forum/ and look for Codey's car. His results have been thorougly doubted and debated over time, but I do think you'll be able to pick up a thing or two from his cars history.
