Fiesta Rear Speaker Wiring

Postby Baker88 on Wed Jan 03, 2007 5:01 pm

Hey i just got a 2001 ford fiesta. I've put a pair of jbl 6x9 speakers out of my old car in the back shelf and want to connect them to the head unit using the wires from the standard rear speakers.

The wires are yellow and white and have a purple spiral line around each. I want to know which is the live and which is the earth wire.

cheers

If I'm correct in thinking it doesn't matter with speakers? I have two unlabelled cables running to my rear speakers and they work fine, even with reversed polarity.

Cheers,

Nick

If I was you I would use the purple and white for negative and yellow and purple for positive, as white would be used as negative - I think that anyway.

6x9's and rear speakers are pointless. sound is recorded in left and right, not front and back. just get some decent components, sub and amp, thats all you need

True, unless you have surround sound, or rear passengers. I'm sure the bass isn't all the people in the back of my car want to hear.

Back on topic though, I think that the wires with yellow are the 'positives'. As long as all the speakers are connected with the same combination (ie, all the yellows as a + and whites as a -) they should be in phase and sound right.

That is complete nutsack. The speakers will work but they will be running out of phase. This was discussed only a few days ago!
