With reference to the boot liner - if it is 5021113 it is likely to have an 89FB Engineering however I don't think this Accessory was available at the time your FRST was built let alone in 1989. This part has been superceded by 1012287 which looks virtually identical and has an A96FX Engineering number. This part is also suitable for the MK4/MK5 Fiesta.

I've got an enormous collection of brochures and literature and I should be able to use them as a reference point to work out when this style of liner came out (I don't think it is in the 91 or 94 Fiesta Accessories brochures).

Cheers Fellas. :Q

Im hoping to get the engine over to the builder on saturday. Just gotta finish painting the block and head, bought new oil pump, head bolts, gasket sets, water pumps etc etc.
All the brake lines are painted again, just gna fit them tmrw. Bought a brand new lock set aswell so theyre going on. Gonna use a different lock for the petrol cap aswell, to alleviate the problem of someone nicking the cap and getting a set of keys cut to the car.

All going swimmingly so far, should be rolling within the next few weeks, pics to follow tmrw!!

thanks again. :D :D

Hasnt happened to me Mark no.
But when i was chatting to my friend he said when he worked at fords in the height of the 90s joyriding era, they always advised customers to do this. Sort of an extra safety feature i spose. Thats why the 3.5 doors had the anti tamper cowling fitted around them to stop blades and rods flicking the clips off by car thieves. Im using 3.5 setup on this aswell, just to hinder people that wanna try this.

Not that the car will be left anywhere out of eyeshot!!! :D

Image

Image

Image

Came out very well....Although it was 5 hours of gentle cleaning so i might get the rest vapour blasted as my fingers are shrivelled and foooked!!!

Oh....And my new ride!!!!

Image

Thats it for a bit. Going to powdercoater again to get crank pulley wheeel coated nice and blue again, and get some other stuff zinc plated.
Might try and take some stuff to the engine builder aswell, but ive missed a few patches of paint on the block, so might wait till in the week now!!

Anyway Ta for now!!! :D

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED 08/02/13..

Postby RS EDDIE on Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:09 am

Bit of a movement in proceedings!! :Q

So...The engine was done for me by my friend who works at Burton. Its had a slight deglaze and hone, with brand new Mahle rings and all new Mahle shells fitted. Got them all from my old work Burtons so got a good deal.

Its had a new water pump, Oil pump, cam belt etc plus a new top and bottom gasket sets fitted, with Standard Ford Head Gasket. Id already acid cleaned all the pistons as well. Everything else was 100% including the crank which didnt even need a polish so that was good. The shells didnt look too bad either.

Was in the garage for most of yesterday with a Pal so i could get all the underside lines finished...Brake lines all repainted in the correct shade of green, hoses fitted and tightened, callipers rebuilt and fitted.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Need to get new braid and blue clips aswell as touch up the floor plugs here...

Image

Image

Image

THESE PICS ARE POOR AS THE LIGHT IN MY GARAGE IS PONY....ITS ALOT BETTER IN THE FLESH!! :( !!!

Started to build the engine ancillaries up today adding a few bits as i went along. I wont bore you with the pics of the dirty engine and all that stuff as im sure youve all seen an oily engine in bits...but this is some of them before going to the builders...

Image

Image

Scrubbing the block up before painting it...

Image

Image

Image

And how it stands now its been back for a week or so...With bottom pulley coated in the correct blue!! Just got to touch up some bits like repaint the cam cover and a few bits on the underside of the car that ive knocked, crawling around with spanners etc.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Now..... ive always seen CVH engines with silver rocker covers that have been coated and painted etc, but always liked the factory finish...i.e the satin greyish colour, as mine was years ago.

Ive visited many scrap yard to find good condition ones but there are soo many variants as to this colour. I took an original unpainted one to my coater to match on his colour swatch and we saw that the nearest to it looked like RAL 7038 Agate Grey!!! I then took it to get the paint made up in 2k and when applied either the paint shop havent mixed it properly or it aint that colour at all!!!

The top half is a colour test and a million miles away from even the rest of the older colour!!!

Image

So im going back tommorow to see what colours i prefer closer to the grey!!!

Also im unsure as to wether i like the manifolds i painted now, so im trying to get a matt/silk cast metal colur as mine seems a bit dark now!!!

Just gna test a few colours on another manifold save stripping mine back!!

Image

Made up some prototype copies of the original rusty bodykit brackets (x6) which often corrode away and fall off over time...

Image

And going to get the brake bias valves re done in gold and the bracket in silver as well as some other bits!!

Image

Oh and i managed to re do a sticker from the original dealer that i saw on an xr3i a while back at a show!!

Image

Thats it till tommorrow i think...AGAIN...Any comments good or bad welcomed except for " Am i going to paint the brake nuts"!!!....What do you reckon lol!! :D

Rocker cover match is..... WRONG....  Looked at 400 greys today and just when one looks good you look at another and it makes the previous one grey mixed with blue or green then yellow and so on....I think satin silver is gonna be favourite now!!! :x
