Thanks fellas....bit of a delay been going on, but i can happily say that shes off to get her new coat put on!!!!
Had major dramas with new bonnet and the doors were s**t that i had so a few good ones had to be sourced.
Bit of a mare, was gonna go with mk3.5 doors but didnt want them after running around the whole of the south as it werent right in my head and would have bugged the fook out of me!!!

Anyway hear she is this morning...

The fella at the painters had finished 3 1960s mustangs towards the end of last year, and the pictures of them were amazing, so he is a very good painter. :Q
He assured me that he would do a pukka job and to leave it in his capable hands. I personnally circled every single little blemish all over tha car, with a permanent marker and showed him the underside to which he also assured me that he wouls be skirting the underside so as not to over spray etc.

Now its sit and wait time...then bubble wrap it and never take it out!!!

Bought a few new odds and sods for it the other week....

Image

And managed to do the jack stickers that people on here might be interested in once i can get to the colour printers at some point soon!!!

Image

Anyway, thats how it stands atm...Just got to get in touch with Burtons for the engine freshen up and then paint that all. Ive just started doing the gearbox, knocking it all back ready for painting etc.

Hope yas Like!!!!! :D :D

Thanks geezas. The vin plate was from the internet, the writing is slightly thicker than what fords do, but for the availabilty of gen ford and the price, i spose it was worth it.

Yeah Fraggle gna go down there on a weekly basis and when it goes into the paint booth to get loads of picis, for you all to see!!!! :D

Right stripped the gearbox down for new gaskets all round then decided to bare metal it for painting, its a bit griefy to do as i had to get into all the little bits and get rid of the crud.

Image

Image

When done used a very good metal sealer then a metal primer ready for a key then to apply the finished coat...

Image

Image

In primer...

Image

Image

Tester colour of finished box...

Image

Then I encountered an annoying "nut rattling around inside the box" noise when moving it around!!!. Couldnt see what it was and im sure it was put together correctly.
After some scratching of the swede and after pulling the reverse light thing out and the two long metal dowel shaped things ( dont know what theyre called?? but have a spring and dowel inside the shaft)...It clicked....Id put one of the above mentioned dowel things into the reverse hole and when moving the box around the dowel and spring had fallen into the inside of the box!!!!!  What a bellend....concentrating on painting it too much!!!!

These are the things....

Image

Now ive got to red-do everything again!!!!!!!!!....Ball Bag.
At least i noticed this before bolting it all to the engine and running it!!!! :o

Doh! :x

It's (just!) a spring and the detent plunger; oil usually holds them all together but sounds like you got unlucky. The spring may get stuck near the swarf magnet in the casing, if not you may get lucky and flush the bits out of another plunger hole. I'd budget for a rebuild if you can't get it out. Nightmare!

I took the plungers out and cleaned them as they are 3 different parts on the micro fiche and i dont think theres any specific way they are held in. Ill go scrappy tmrw and pull a few others out and see if theyre the same.!!

Only problem is the box and bellhousing are now an inch apart and wont close up together as if something isnt lining up properly!!!! The gear selector stalk is a bit tight and the cogs a bit stiff now!!! Foook this....Im giving up!!!!

dont give up mate, its just some3thing out of line, ive striped a lot of these boxes, and some fight you all the way, some just seem to fall back together.

wait till you have the new plungers and reassemble it with them in place and it should go back nice and easy

Nothing can just "ping off" of fall apart can it Jay??? Thats all im concerned about, things like a cog not lining up etc!!!! :o
