Eddie, that is just rediculous! Stunning isnt a strong enough word! :Q :Q

Two things, firstly, get the bush cut down, cars come first

Secondly, in terms of the parts, if you go to the effort to take the black stuff off the be done satin for concours points, I would re-do the brake pipes in the "correct" colour too whilst at it. Then it would be 110% standard

Not necessary though imo, as yours is better than standard, for example the full paint job underneath etc rather than just the "standard" ford overspray effect

Hope that helps buddy :)

Thanks for the comments fellas, theyre much appreciated. The finish in the flesh is far superior to the pictures!!!!

Im gna have a word with the coater tommorow and if he can redo the satin straight over the gloss, if so then its gotta be done. the brake lines will also be redone if he has a darker colour olive, if not then im happy to keep them as they are as they are fairly fresh looking!!!

Thanks again chaps!!! :D :D

I think you should get the black and what ever else you are not happy with sorted out now before you go any further. You ain't going to make the shows this year so you got plenty of time to get the little niggly things sorted. At the end of the day and the amount of work gone into its resto I would want it perfect. You openly admit your ocd and I damn sure that the little bits mentioned would certainly bug you even more so when someone like yourself looks over the car and states are the shocks the right black or are those brake lines the right colour.

Paint looks stunning btw

Cheers mate. :Q

Ive just been to the coaters and he can redo all my stuff straight over the gloss black, just means it will be a bit thicker!! Nowt wrong with that tho!!! Looked at a few bits that hes doing atm in satin and they look superb....Looks like its all gona be taken off!!!!

(just when im gna be building it up again, ill be taking it apart at the same time!! .My OCD is most pleased!!!!!!! lol   )

depends how far you wanna go with the concorse mate, i think it all gets a bit an@l when it comes down to the shade of black powder coat, but then again, concorse isnt my thing.

do what you feel is right mate, as long as your happy with what ever you choose, then thats all that matters.

Leave it gloss mate If their that picky their take points off for having a painted underside as its not factory? But you no my opinion put your comps & coilovers on but not stupid low an enter it modified, sure to be a winner either way

I would leave it gloss mate, as said above the underside isn't standard anyway. Gloss is a bit easier to keep clean and is a more durable finish.

Thanks kyzysiekRST... :D

I think the orange-peely looks a bit naff tbh although it was how ford painted the cars back then. A full nut and bolt job would be a bit of a letdown if the paint wasnt like glass.

I would think that the age of some cars you can tell from the finish of the paint that its been resprayed, a fresh paint job should be like its been poured over, thats what id pay for anyway but each to their own.

Mark, ive been working like a dog of late at the Olympics, so im just putting things back on like rubbers etc, so no, not alot of movement here!!! Im gna start getting the rooflining in and a few of the interior plastics, sound deadening and window regulators in next, then glass and dash. Just dont want to rush it!!

Right small update as ive been working non stop, so havent really gotten round to the ol gal in a few weeks. Started to fit gear from the rear of the car first i.e the rear bumper, green inserts and interior carpets and sound deadening, rear glass, and rubber seal, etc etc....

Heres a few boring pics of the rear end and my other little project...

Brand new number plate fixings, rear num plate light and rear lenses, with polished and cleaned green strip, and it looks as new!!!!...

Image

Image

Brand new boot liner from Fords...

Image

Image

Image

Few rear seat shots and plastic trims fitted....

Image

Image

Haven't fitted the side plastics nor seat belt runner mounts yet as ive still got to get a few clips etc and clean them up a bit....
Next step is to take of all the underneath metal work, rear beam, wishbones etc as ive recently had a part redon in satin black and it looks 100 times more original, so the rest will get the business end of the powdercoating gun in the next month or so.

Just managed to buy some brand new front headlamps and half the front foglamps, so when i find the rest the whole car will have every light from front to back and inside New.

Oh and these dropped through the letter box recently aswell....

Image

Image

I wanted a new master cylinder pot as mine just werent fresh enough so i ended up buting a gen ford master cylinder and pot for a grand total of....£39.99 posted!!!! :Q

As i say not alot to report but "im back in the game" again!!! :Q

Oh nearly forgot....I just bought a fiesta Si, ash black metallic,

Image

Image

The car has done A GEN 79K, but i can honestly say that i have never seen a cleaner interior on one of these Si's. There is no wear on the seats, steering wheel, carpets nor rooflining, and the boot is box fresh with ford stickers in place!!!

Not even touched by me yet, sitting 3 weeks since i bought it!!!

Image

Image

2 previous owners, with full Main dealer service stamps all from allen ford, had £900 spent on it around 2-1/2 years ago with new callipers, pads, disks, wishbones, brake lines, exhaust and four new michelins.

Ive just enrolled in a car detailing course in september which teaches all the uses of DAs, Machine polishers, wet sanding and final cutting/polishing, so im gna practice on the Si, and my Mk2 fez, try and get them glassy finish...should be a good course and very informative... :Q :Q

Anyways....Allo again!!!!!! :bonkers:
