Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....New Update...
Had a few spare hours today so rang the powdercoater and he said that the bits can be taken down on wednesday. Thought id start on the front of the car as its more grief than the rest.
Ive decided to do it in three visits, 1) front off-coated then put back on. 2) Rear off-coated and put back, then the rest of the other fixings coated ready to go on again in the final bulid up stage!!
To be fair im sure i didnt do all the bolts up tight for some unknown reason, but its the only time ive taken gear off a car without getting dirty hands!!
Good job it came off again because look at the DUST!!!!!
Would have been a mare cleaning all this off the car after it was at the painters!!!
Anyway, thats it for now....bit boring really!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....New Update...
Ok manged to do a few bits since last time...
Disassembled the whole of the front end running gear again, to be sent to the coaters to be redone in satin style o.e.
Hes been very busy and its sat there for a month or so but got a call today to collect!!! Again hes done a great job, and tells me that hes doing it as a pj for me so the cost is even cheaper!!!
He tells me that all my gear went in with stuff from the Army so if it ever rusts it aint gna just be on his back!!
This is the first batch to be fitted then i can raise the rear and do the same to the rear end...Christmas pressies early!!!
Sump...
Jack
As you can see the satin is much better than the gloss. For some reason the gloss just attracted dust alot??..
Im thinking of redoing the front inner arches again as im not very happy with the texture of them so thats next on the list for me aswell as the rear obviously!!. Also im taking all the brake lines out again as i managed to get mint front end ones and the green ive used is too bright so theyre gonna go darker.
Finally got brand new ones of these...
Just got one more rear passenger side lamp to get brand new and thats all the light crisp for the final build up.
Me being me ive managed to find a nice Rolls Royce valleting kit, inc carnauba wax for showtime so i thought id buy a polishin bag to take to shows!!!
Any comments welcome including shhit ones as these will help me better my OCD!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....Updates...
Been busy this week. Done quite a bit in the cold...But with the ol space heater the garage was at 55' in no time!!!!
Anyway. Decided to fit the wiper moter etc, wiper grommets into the bulkhead and the rear bulkhead panels. All the clips were a little grubby so i washed them with a degreaser.
Fed the loom into its correct place, added some new stickers, then OCD got the better of me so i took the spongy/rubber seating washers out and washed them aswell as the plastic wire housings as they did look very grubby!!
Then took out the remainder of the green engine brake lines in order to rub them down ready for the correct colour paint, as the green i used was a bit lairy!!!...
Fired up the compressor and re-shultzd the inner front arches, as id already sanded them back again ready for it. That went off in no time, so decided to hit them with merc grey and then laquer them...Job done pics to follow...
Still on one, i took the springs down the the powder coaters with some other suspension parts ready to be satin finished. The shocks didnt go as ive bought a brand new set to go with them when done.
Whilst beavering around in the garage, my servo was winking at me, so upon further inspection, i knew that it needed a repaint!! Managed to buy some really good satin industrial paint from toolstation, so half hour later and that was rubbed down ready for a lick of the black stuff.
When finished the satin was a bit dull for a servo as they are normally a semi orangepeeley gloss finish, so i hand polished it with Faracla and supercut, then final polished it with 3m to bring to a nice even shine!!!
Built it back up, added a new servo sticker and the new master cylinder and pot....What ya think?? Im well chuffed!!!
After this i added some new stickers to the newly painted satin jack and wrench as i needed something to do!!!!
Took another load of already zincd items back down to the platers today including a few boxes of m4-m12 flange nuts in case.
Thats it for the min, come to a bit of a standstill as i dont wanna upset the front of the car as its on stands, jacking the rear up. The only bit ive got to get done is the poxy front hubs and knuckles. They have brand new bearings in them which will melt when coated so ive gotta re-do them all again!!!
Regards...Edd
