Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....Another-Update...
Ok, been in the mixer of late..
Taken everything off the car AGAIN and its all either been re powdercoated satin black or is at the coaters getting done. Took the front knuckles back to my old work place Burton Power to have the bearings and races pressed out so i can get the final pieces to the coater.
Re sprayed most of the brake lines the correct shade of green as i was never happy with the shade the coater used but he couldnt find a close enough match, so i ended up hand sanding them back to get a nice smooth key, then sprayed them in the work drying room (80') and left them to cure!!.
Had a mass clearout of shiite in my garage ( 3 binbags of plastic trims etc etc!! )and as i didnt really have enough space to work on stuff purchased some work benches with pegboards. (classic case of closing the barn door when the horse has bolted!!)
Bit tidier now!!
Took advantage of my heater during this time and it works superb!!! Got the garage up to 46 deg at one point on high fan!! ( comes of the end at 800deg !!!!!)
So, managed to re do the oil cooler..
Front fog brackets...
Cleaned all the light fittings with a tooth brush and white spirit...
Fitted new washer bottle
Inner arches and screws...
Dissassembled rear hubs, beam and brakes...Look at that dust!!!! Anybody??...DUST
Fitted up some of the engine bay clobber that i had taken off ..
Got some more stuff Zincd...
The brake lines can be seen here in the first pic as the difference in colours that i had originally, (right) compared to the original (left)
And the colour match that i achieved with my newly sprayed lines ( right) to the original (left)
Finally so far, i put my newly coated springs etc onto my new shocks, gave them some paint flicks etc...Much better in satin....
And whilst i was at it I bought new top mount rubbers...COMPARE the sloppy old ones (left) to the new tight ones (right) and the cup hole size difference after years of use!!!!....When i offered them over the spring cup the old ones just fell over them whereas the newer ones had to be squeezed over !!!!
Thats it for a bit, just in the process of sorting everything into order and boxes, all labelled (OCD!!)
Any comments most welcome, thankyouplease!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED 22/01/13..
Looks absolutely brilliant mate! Been wondering when an update was coming on this. The brake lines are a massive improvement over the previous colour
Nice touch with the paint marks on the springs and stickers on the shocks, these details will all make this car really special
Garage is looking nice and tidy too

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED 22/01/13..
Thanks Dave/Danny....
Ford Fair?? I want to try and make Central Day if poss, not sure about fiesta in the park yet as it might be a bit dusty on the field and the track that passes over the back is very bad....I know what your gonna say "whats the point"!!, but in all fairness. its gonna be sooo hard keeping every nook and cranny free of dust and dirt, and i just dont fancy cleaning it over and over again. (well !!!!)
Although if i can get a trailor i might drag it up there??

WOW!!
I am new here looking for my first FRST as a small project and simply by looking at this thread has highlighted that it doesnt matter how clean and immaculate a car is, there is always rust somewhere!!
