Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED 10/03/13..
Right then....Things have been moving recently...
Got a few things back from the zinc platers that i had redone, as i wasnt happy with some bits...
Dont know why i had another mount bracket done as ive got around 6 done now!!!
Anyway, a few pals came over at the weekend and we all built up the clutch, newly painted gearbox, and then mounted it all to the engine and then the crane etc.
MANY THANKS TO CHRISXR2IT3 AND MR HIGGS FOR THEIR TIME AND EFFORT, COULDNT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YAS....
Once this had taken place, i was left to build up everything back onto the car.
Now i struggled like fook to try and get one of the colours that ford used in the 1991 cars on the rocker covers. After several attempts and wasting too much dosh on paint i settled for a choice of these two...
The top is like a wishy washy grey/bluey/beige colour that was used, but i settled for the bottom one which looks alot fresher and newer and it was powedercoated aswell.
Bought some toothbrushes and gave all of the loom plugs a good clean with WD4o to get rid of all the old dirt and crud...
Also i decided that i hated the inlet/crossover pipe, and manifolds in the silver that i had done them in previously as it was too dark and shiny for my liking....Sooo i stripped them all down again and painted them in cast paint which is gorgeous compared!!!
Anyway, im not gonna bore ya with all the stuff ive managed to do like respray clips then bake them in the oven, and put PDI paint flicks on stuff etc, so ill just post a few pics of how it is at the moment....
Engine and box sited....
And how ive left it today......
Seems strange washing my hands before working on a car,...Im sure it should be the other way around!!!!!
Anyways there it is for now, more updates soon!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATE TIME!!!!
Cheers Dave....
Its been mega hard work so far, just the trying to find misplaced stuff is bad enough, let alone pulling bits off because it doesnt look right then re-doing them!! Its getting there, touch and go wether central day is a bit soon, but im trying.
The misses is getting the hump aswell, [ERRR] being a woman she just cant get her head round how anyone spends 10 hours in a freezing cold garage painting clips and cleaning multiplugs!!!
Bolllox i say!!!

Haha, women eh
I get the same with some of my mates too. Before I took the FRS bumper to be resprayed, one of my mates said "its already the right colour, why are you painting it??"
I dont think people understand perfection.....
At least we are happy with our hobbies though

It's amazing to think that these cars came out the factory THAT clean and new, and most of them these days are just a huge mess. Top work as usual Eddie!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATE TIME!!!!
Right heres a small update to the thread....
Been fairly busy fitting interior parts etc, loom clips, and fitting the alternator and batttery looms back in. Fitted the new decals to the tailgate and number plates etc. Just got to fill the gearbox with gear oil and a few other bits and bobs then hopefully i can start her up in the next week or so!!!
Anyway a few pics...
Loom clips and wiring....
Tailgate...
And a few of the interior as it stands but not cleaned up yet!!...
As i say bit of a short update, got to fit new gearnob and steering wheel aswell yet, and a general cleanup , new actuator and arm but thats after i get it filled up with fluids and started...Important things first!!!
Any comments, negative aswell most welcome!!
