Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...FINISHED ITEM CONCOURSE PICS.
Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...SHE RUNS!!!!! (with problems)
Dude with the amount of work and effort you have out in to this them
Probs are minor really, and as done, easy sorted.
There could of been a lot worse or expensive things that could of gone wrong, so I don't think them issues are too bad tbh.
Glad it's all up and running, it's marks a stage in the rebuild, and gets rid of certain worries, leaving you in a better frame of mind for the next stages.
Well it did with me anyway

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...SHE RUNS!!!!! (with problems)
Thanks chaps appreciate it..........
This airlock is getting to be a pain. Ive run it up and then left the cap off overnight so now the water is gone from the header tank...( i reckon its lost around 2L from the stated 7.6L with spillage etc)
Ill ad more aqua till its on max then see if it continues to bubble in the pipes and go from there!!!
Bastaaad Cars lol

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...SHE RUNS!!!!! (with problems)
Ed I've only ever had a problem bleeding the air out once on all the fiestas I've ever worked on lol and I've done a lot with fiesta cooling systems.
it was when I put my engine in for the second time.
I spent hours on it trying to get the air lock out till in the end I drained the system and started again and it bled through first time
The way I norm do it is put my mouth over the header and pressurise it and pull my head away and let it bubble back, I do this as many times as I feel it needs it, I also squeeze the top hose to pump the water about and when I'm happy ill start the car up with the cap off and when it's up to temp ill bung the cap back on and let the system pressurise on its own. And as said never had a problem until the other year with my RS, and I can only put that down to me filling the system with the front end high on axle stands (high enough to slide a engine under) or maybe I was unlucky.
I reckon if you still can't get the air out it might be worth popping the top and bottom
Rad hoses and starting again.
If you got fresh anti freeze in there collect the water up, filter it through a cloth or strong kitchen paper towel and reuse it save wasting it.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...SHE RUNS!!!!! (with problems)
Im hoping to be....Gna see if i can trailer it as it might not be MOTd etc.
If i spend the 6 days off work on the lead up the FF getting all the last minute bits (mot tax insurance, interior, alloys) done then i might be able to drive it there ( weather permitting!!) and maybe camp....
I want to get it to FF and get it judged and pulled to bits by them, so i can see if it comes anywhere and what stuff i need to redo for next year.
Ill update next week with alternator findings and progress pics etc!!

Great news it will be there bud, I'll come over for a chin wag during the day,
Like you say you have to start somewhere and with FF you'll have some of the best judges out there, they have been around the scene for many years.
I can't wait to see this

I've been away from this forum too long. Max informed me of a concourse fiesta Rs. So I tagged along only to be told it was your one Eddie !
Witnessed the grilling the Judges were giving your car. My god they are intense !
I thought I was picky but them chaps are another level.
When they opened your bonnet it was like seeing the car that has just rolled off the factory
Well done !

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...small update!!
Many thanks for the Kind words chaps, was good to see some of you yesterday, put names to faces!!!....
So onto Ford Fair......
I was in the garage all day Saturday, and at 1130pm, I was cancelling ford fair altogether, as i was tired, moody and just had soo much to do still. My OCD was getting the better of me and couldnt see how i was going to get it done.
My mate persuaded me to do a bit more and go to bed then wake up in the am and he would be over at 5am to help finish the rest.
I stayed up till 230am, washing tyres in the dark, spraying axle stands silver and all sorts of other bits and bobs, still having to fit the s-brace in the morning!!!!!
Anyway, a massive thanks to my pal Martin, who came over in the morning on the button, helped me fit the last few bits, and then the problem of loading an unstarted car onto a lowloader on a busy A Road with noisy winch at 630am!!!
Once on, it was off to Ford Fair, (knowing that all the other cars were already there, but id had 2 hours kip so couldnt physically leave at 430am!!)
Entering at 0930 with the "already cleaned and polished cars", there was the unloading and setting up etc to do giving us 30 mins before i had to be at the concourse briefing!!!
After this, at 1030am, i had an hour and half of cleaning to try and complete all the bits that i could think of that i just couldnt do at home because of tiredness and time etc etc!!!........SO APOLOGISE IF I DIDNT HAVE ALOT OF TIME TO STOP AND CHAT WITH ALOT OF YOU!!!
Anyway heres the fruits of our labour and "ALMOST" the end of the line for this year show wise.....
To be honest i got so many wonderful comments, from all various countries, on how good the car is ets etc, and didnt stop speaking to people after 12midday, (when the cars cant be touched).
The Result.......
I LOST POINTS ON THE FOLLOWING:
( Bearing in mind it was a last minute rush, so just either forgot or didnt have the time! )
1) Small scratches on a window
2) Dust in the sunroof aperture
3) Dust under the header tank
4) A dried out slug under the boot carpet..(only a small slug mind!!)
5) Seat bolts underside of the floor pan were a bit browny instead of black
6) Dust under floor mats
7) Small UFO behind the airbox, (looked like a small raisin, but i dont like raisins!!)
Spare wheel was just mank, and dirty as fook!!
And a few other bits i guess, but nothing major!!!!
But managed to bag........

Julian......Yea shame mate, would av been good to meet ya, tell ya mate cheers!!!
Mark......Thanks....It was 50/50 and i did let myself down on the dust/cleaning side, but given the last minute situation, im happy with what it achieved...as for next.....I think ill settle for a bit (well i did say a bit!!!), the misses has been very patient with me, but ive got my eye on a "last used on the road in 1992" Series one!!!!....Escort Cosworths are just too much money for mint ones at the moment!!!
Rob....Thanks mate, and yes...it is the exhaust, that i bought off of you!!!
