Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...FINISHED ITEM CONCOURSE PICS.
Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...POWDERCOATING ETC
Jay i didnt waxoil the inside bit because i wanna get the car underside finished first.
If you look in the footwell of the mk3 there are two plastic elongated plugs. If you lift these out then waxoil can be pumped into the chassis rails. Thats what im gna do, but im also gna plug the underside holes with plastic grommets to stop the waxoil leaking out over the underside when done!!

Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...UPDATE
Right let me try again!!!
Didnt like the look of these plugs with the underseal over them...
So i outed them...
For 6 new ones of these!!!
These were gonna be put in today, but i wasnt happy with the finish of the undershultzing of the chassis rail and middle part of the car. Where the masking off had been placed and new undershultz sprayed on it was slightly flatter than before.
I made a decision and was up today at 0830!! down to the paint shop and returned £50 lighter and more tins of Merc Grey, and 2k laquer and hardner aswell as another tin of shultz!!!
The result was me undershultzing the parts mentioned again, with out masking this time and a lower flow rate matching the rest. I then re-shultzed the rear arch insides again and painted the whole underside, rear arches in 2 more coats of mercury and then 2 further fresh coats of Laquer, hit harder and closer than before!!!!
I then prepped the bay and hit that with 4 coats of mercury grey, and 4 coats of laquer. Im well happy with the results, as at the min its like a mirror, just gotta wait for it to cure!!...Then its mopping time for a superb finish, unless i burn through the paint!!!
Will update the pics off ma camera soon!!!....

Ahh that's interesting, I assume that's a bead of wax around the circumference, and you heat them up to melt the wax and seal the in place

Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...MORE WORK!!!
Heres a few of the painted bay etc...
Turrets before laquer...
Then after...
The rear of the bay, before and after i think...
A few of the arches inners...
The pics are in my garage and the light makes it look alot less convincing than it actually is, ill try and get some more before i mop the whole bay, when its nice and hard!!!

Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...MORE WORK!!!
Cheers pal..considering, Ive never really painted before i think is come out well. Once hardened for a few days the mopping should give it the final shine. After that ill post pics up of everything ive had powdercoated ( over 50 items of bay and running gear parts from clamps to springs and beams, brake and fuel lines, jack etc etc!!!)
Thanks for the comments!!

Ive got a few good bodyshops in mind as i want it baked on and a pro to do it whos been doing it for years. Theres alot of people who profess to being the worlds greatest painters and whats right and wrong etc, but im so fussy and i want a guarentee that it aint gonna be f.u.c.k.e.d up. Also ive seen a few jobs people have done and id trust them to do mine!!!
The ££ aint a problem so i dont wanna cut corners and im a bit busy so i dont want it to take up all my time!!!

Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...MORE WORK!!!
Right....Just unwrapped 90% of the powdercoated gear that ive had done. Heres a few pics of the most of it, running gear etc ....
Then theres all the brake lines and ful lines aswell...
Close up of the brake line finish..
Then theres the standard springs..
And Jack....
The amount of stuff ive got laying around the house is ridiculous. Theres parts everywhere. If anyone was contemplating doing the same i would strongly advise a lock up in the warm, or yellow storage etc, as ive got gear in every room, and thats without the engine and alloys, exhausts and wiring looms etc!!!

Re: OK HERE GOES THE CLEAN UP...POWDERCOATING
Be good to see it all nicely painted.
I personally hate to see Fords that are buffed/flatted to within an inch of there lives and the paint is dead flat.Ford paint that's original has a bit of an orange peel look to it(see Tony Francis red S2 Turbo, one of the best concours cars imo). That's the look I'd want if I were to have mine done.
Good resto this!

Yea i make ya right mate. Ive deliberately left the bay as for dwould have done it. Behind the engine bulkhead and the depths of the bay have been painted and left a bit orangepeely without cutting the bollox off of the paint.
The turrets are the only part you will really see so i wanted them really thick and glossy, or it would have been a pointless task redoing it!!
