Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration (Updates)
Thanks fellas, im going to rejoin the RSOC and ask the concours registrar what level and cateagory to enter it into next season.
Although its going back to standard for a bit ive been told i cant enter it in standard concourse due to the powdercoaring and the floor painting etc, but can enter it into intermediate, where its slightly modified from standard due to the above reason...Bit perdantic i know but i suppose its not standard now???...
Just cleaned and re fitted the rear tank fuel pipe and breather hoses with new fuel hose and clips. Also managed to get all the brake lines attached to the servo and bias valves, before cleaning the engine bay fuel rubbers and regulator. Managed to get new fuel rail pipes aswell.
This week im gonna see how much more weight the jig will take before i fit the wishbones, drop links, suspensions and cradles etc also the rear beam and the roll bars. Once i can fit them i suppose its rolling time. Seems a sham now tho, im used to seeing the underside face to face!!!
Might need a few of my mates to lower it down and an engine hoist, just in case it gets dropped or falls off!!!
Anyway as per...updates to follow, many thanks...

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More!!
Right, been busy this last few days. Managed to get the last of my powdercoated bits done bar my oil sump which is going back for a re-do...( didnt trust the inside of it having been powdercoated so im getting it re-shotblasted and coated in green....(joke!!)
Heres where im at...
Most of the front underside metals fitted...gearbox cradle, ARB with new clamps and rubbers, wishbones with coated balljoints (see how they go!!) s shaped thing and all the bolts that have been black zincd and then painted in black enamel before being painted in factory I.D colour codes....
Fitted all the fuel supply pipes properly, and managed to find some Ford Tank Lagging for the top, to stop it banging on the floor pan under rear seat..
Finally as the freshly painted Standard shocks are going on soon, I manged to get round to replicating the original paint flicks on the springs, ready for fitting at the weekend hopefully!!
The thred has made som good comments on Passionford aswell, including some good words from the Head Judge at Ford Fair 2011...
Comments welcome....

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
Thanks Geeza, appreciate it.....
As soon as i know if the standard is good enough then yes i am going into the concourse scene next year. Just got to see what cateagory tho, as its not classed as standard, more intermediate, which is due to new powdercoatings and paint on the underside!!! Just awaiting confirmation!!
Thanks again..

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
Edd that car is just getting better & better m8, its feckin sweeeeeeet!!!!!! And even tho im biased lol Mercury Grey just seems to have that special look about it, it just suits the Fiestas shape & curves so well. Good luck wif the concours m8 but if it was me m8 id forget it & id book into the concours but not register, cos from wot ive seen with the judging its all a massive clic, worst thing ive ever seen was my m8 who won the gold cup with his Series one turbo [The car was unbelievable] but wasnt gud enuf to win Ford Fair or National Day 3 years on the bounce!!! he got so sickened by it that it made him sell the car which was a tragedy

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
Absolutely stunning - top work there Eddie. It's one of the best restorations I've seen in a long time.
I know of several Fiesta RSs being built at the moment to concours standards - the majority of which I have supplied parts for. You might find that there is a fair bit of competition when it comes to MK3s next year.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
Thanks mate for pointing that out...Ever thought of stepping up to the plate and being a concourse judge next year?????
The paint flicks were actually only around the bolt heads, but the RS 1800 that won standard ford fiesta at concourse level last year has them on it from the factory. Ill supply the pics as you will be able to see.
If the Turbo was different from manufacture then the paint thats on it at the moment is only temporary, therefore could easily be removed before the final paint flicks go on.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
That above isn't original mate. It's made to 'look' concourse - drive shafts were never painted, the bolts for the dampers were left unfinished (they are high tensile), it's a non original Cat, the gearbox to engine bolts have been zinc plated where the originals were just passivated (it's a different process to plating - the end result is a more dull in finish and the colour is more orange). The under seal is grey not the sightly yellow/orange colour of OEM
Not to detract from it of course, it is amazing!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
Phew...Thats exhaustive!!!!
Id be scared to enter concourse if you was a judge tho mate
At the end of the day I think it is an amazing car and the bolts do look better redone...alot cleaner. I think im gonna stick with the longer paint flicks tho as its in keeping with the RS1800, so if they ever end up next to eachother then people see it as originalish. Also dont forget these cars were massed produced for the open market, and i can imagine if fords had of taken this much effort over the cars then theyd be double the cost to buy!!!
Anyways, thanks for the comments geeza.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration...More pics!!
I'm not picking mate, just looking at it from a concours perspective. I totally agree with you.
I could never be a judge - why would you want to spend your weekends pulling apart someone else's pride and joy? They should be driven
