Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration... Updated...
Just a small update....
Been to paint shop today just to check on progress. Slowly getting there.
I was told its gonna be fully painted in 2 weeks time and ready to come back!!
The fabricator/panel fella made a point of stopping what he was doing, and walking me around the car, pointing out bits hed done and what was next on his list which was a sterling attitude...he almost looked a bit paniccy/worried but it was only me rubbing my fingers over bits as a windup!!!
Anyway a few so far...
Drivers door in etch primer and deep in it aswell!!
Few wobbly bits i pointed out where Fords had pressed the sunroof in...
Front pass wing...
Rear quarters before final prepping...
As i said the car is being done a few panels at a time so he doesnt forget to do any blemishes, when rushing onto the next panel....
Front end 90% complete before the whole car gets final prime before paint...
Oh and one of the other "Old Crates" hes painting and repairing aswell at the minute!!!
Any comments welcomed good or bad!!!

due to the age with the rubber not be unfit for purpose I thought the shelf life for a rubber tyre was 15 years

HCS....Doesnt matter re: shelf life of the rubber. These tyres are all good and not cracked nor hardened.
They are purely to go my concourse 3 spoke alloys. They will be fitted to the car at shows then taken off the car at/after the show, and replaced with another set of 3 spokes. They will then go into storage until transporting to the next show.(graft i know)

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration... Paint Stage 2
Small update....
Chatted to a few of the escort concourse boys today. Gave me a bit of incentive to get my arse in gear. Good to chat to few fellows that are on the same wavelength seeing it as a hobby and a laidback affair this old concourse lark!!!
Anyway...bought a few little bits and bobs for the rebuild in a few weeks...
Brand new Splashguards...(Thankyou Tom Peters!!)
Another new battery cover, interior light, rear number plate light, new ford Track rod ends, and some more side repeaters...
Stripped manifold of all the crud, soaked it in caustic soda for half hour, then oven dried and dusted. After tack rag wiping them and letting them dry again, i painted them in manifold 1000' heat paint, then cured it in the ol dorrises oven for an hour at 200....
Before...
After...
Turbo Bit before....
After...
Thats it so far. Still got loads of odds and ends to get done and another visit to the zinc plater to get various bits done silver and then gold!!!
Did try and put a few names to faces today, but a few of yas seemed a bit busy tinkering or stuffing ya faces!!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....Small update..AGAIN
Have you got any spare amber side repeaters hanging around fella need one for the driver side and can't for the life of me find one. I had a chat with tom peters yesterday and he can't find them either. I thought I struck gold last week when I purchased a brand new set with looms for pennies on ebay but they turned out be for sierra, mk2 fiesta, escort mk4 etc so useless to me. Anyway back to your car top work fella and I can't wait to see it at ford fair. I had a chat yesterday with the lad who owns the red one which was at pod the other day and all I can say is you lot are mental. Your attention to detail etc is amazing and the patience required to do a restore like this is beyond me. Anyway fella keep up the good work just need back from the sprayers now so I can drool over the update. Top work fella

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....Small update..AGAIN
No problem Eddie - for me it's all about getting the rare parts on the right cars.
The arch liners have cleaned up well and the work that you've done on the manifold is epic.
A few years ago I had 36 pairs of new side repeaters, if only I could find some more!
