Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....PAINT PICS!!!!!
[quote="RS EDDIE"]Thanks.....
Ive got a full front cover feature in Fast Ford Hopefully when its fully done, including the photoshoot in a studio setting....
Any chance of an autographed copy mate?
Eddie she looks fantastic fella, your lads have done you proud, both you and they should be rightly proud of all the graft
From exp id leave the flat/cut/polish for a week, maybe two, just to let the laquer settle/cure as they have got it nigh on glass already, aint gonna need much to mirror that up, so give it a chance to breath an cure...also allow's you a good chance to just stand an purve over her for a bit
Im gonna have to come get that tailgate and have a mooch over her once she home(if cool??), i'll bring me own kleenex, just have a box on hand incase i overspill
Again well done fella, a real credit to you's all, id be sooooooooo proud of that

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....PAINT PICS!!!!!
indeed a truly epic paint job edd, but did notice the big hole in your trouser knee ,has the paint job become so expensive that you can no longer afford to replace your damaged garments

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....PAINT PICS!!!!!
Rob, as mentioned in an earlier thread, the rear arches have been indented to allow the tightest possible fit of the bodykit without stress fracturing the kit. The kit has been strengthened where i fitted brand new larger stainless bodykit fixings and an epoxy fitting, instead of the rusty old threads on most untouched cars, which snap when taking the kit off. The indents allow the larger stainless fixings to sit neat and tight against the arch, without using a super sticky tape, which could damage the paint if it needed to come off.
Alot of people use sikaflex as a permanent fix so the kit looks tight but obviously a mare to get off. This erradicates the problem. Its been pre-fit already with hardly, if any, gap around the arch.
Jay...Thanks mate.
Nosher..These were just a pair of old jeans, as i didnt want to run the risk of kneeling around a dusty workshop in my new leather arseless chaps!!!

Looking good, arches should be ok as long as they were kept flat in the oven so shouldn't warp too much.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....PAINT PICS(added to)
Thanks people. Im already dredding even taking it off of the transporter, let alone driving it. When i was down the painters, i felt as tho i was going to get told off for touching it...
Im very happy with it so far...BUT....I noticed something that i wasnt happy with on saturday. I pointed it out to the panel bloke, and he had already noticed it aswell, and was gonna point it out but i did first!!!
He is going to redo a tiny, tiny bit of it. He said that there is no way he is letting the car out of his hands until he I am totally 10000% happy with it, no matter how pathetically anal i get .
He is such a nice bloke with attention to detail. Couldnt have asked for a nicer bloke to do it nor a better genuine place to take a car!!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....PAINT PICS(added to)
Many thanks fellas , appreciate it.
I hope i can just get to drive it somewhere where there are roads that have no other road users on it, so im not constantly looking around me for sh.ite drivers!!!! .
Still lots to do when its back, just got to try and find some large sheets of bubble wrap to wrap it in while i fix the gear back onto it!!!.
(beginning to think ive made a rod for my own back!!!)
Thanks again, ill update as soon as the minor problem is sorted and the car is ready to leave to come back for the build-up!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....Shes coming home!!!
Jony, I have got AVO coilovers aswell, but atm its on standard ride height without no engine or box!!!!
Right. The Ol Gal is finally home, in the garage. The paint has been finished and barring a final mop in a few months, when its up and running, then its ready for re-fitting stuff.
Its a bit difficult moving the car around outside at the min, as i just cant risk scratching the paint while its still breathing. Also theres a bush over hanging the fence and im sure its one that spews out Sap, and i dont want that all over the car on fresh paint, thats still hardening off.
Heres a few pics...( I must apologise upfront to Jony for the lack of ultra high pixel pictures, but im only using a 10mp camera at the moment.. .)
Right...The fabricator giving her a subtle polish before he bids her farewell to her. (theyve been an item for nearly 4 months!!)
Arriving home on the trailor...
And just a few of the rear end today, inbetween rainstorms...
With new number plate fixings...
Few more in the garage....
Dusty inside before.....
After....
Thats where its at.
(Im now in a predicament....I might take of all the running gear off again, and have every piece of black metal re-powdercoated in OE type satin, as im sure the car might lose a few points in concourse if its all gloss black. Im gna get the knuckles re-done in a cast colour aswell, and maybe the brake lines darker than what they are. If I do decide to do it then it will only take a few months, over the winter while the car is on axle stands. Bit unsure what to do at the min....Any ideas???)
