Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....New Piccies!!
Yea fellas not long now. And yes Ben, i hate rushing things, esp as it wont be at any shows this year now!!!
Im gna pop in on friday to see where it is and get some pics. Hopefully he can hold off for a few days till next week for the paint, as i was told i could have videoed the painter doing his thing. Aint a problem if it gets painted when im not there, as i dont want it to turn into a side show!!!
Updates to follow in a few days....

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....New Piccies!!
Right small update....
The car IS NOT going to be painted tmrw. The owner wants the car painted but the actual people doing the prep and paint, have told me that they WILL NOT rush the car until they are 1000% happy with the base for paint. The prepper who has been doing the car from the start told me that it is is his baby, and his name is going down on the project so until he is happy, the car will not see paint!!!
He has been fairly bust tho, with the first stage of prep and rubbing down, already it feels uber smooth, and its still got a bit more flatting to go!! The roof, bonnet and door amongst other bits have still got to be done, so he reckons around a month before paint!!!
Heres some pics, i wont label them all as you get the idea of the stage its at!!!
As before looks like alot of filler, but remember 90% of it is sanded off, as you can see in the rear quarters!!!
An idea of the scale of the property....Not your uaual garage lockup!!!...
A few of my Mint Fresh interior taking shape...
Thats it till next week...Not much of an update, but less is sometimes more...sort of!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED!!
Looking good Ed. This had better be amazing when done or I will send the boys round
Sounds like you got a preppper/painter who is really enthusiatic about the whole job mate and not just someone who is wanting to take your money as so many do when they see 20 plus year old cars.
I suppose the longer it is there the longer you got to pay for it which I can't imagine is cheap with the amount of prep work going into it.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED!!
Thanks mate....Yeah it had better be good, or im sending my boys in before you send your boys in!!!
He gave me his mob number so i can call him at any time, and hes putting so much effort into it. Even when i go there to take pics he wants to clean around the car, so it doesnt look messy!!!
They know how fussy Im gna be when i go to inspect the job, so they know how good i want it, thats what im paying for...The price has risen, but its only due to some extra work that was needed, so its not really down to charging for the time its in the workshop, which is good. Put it this way, at the minute i could have bought another Fiesta Rs Turbo instead of the re-paint!!!! ...But I knew i didnt want a £500 blowover from the start, so i sort of expected it!!!
Thanks again!!

Thanks people.
Yeah rs_fiesta, its been there 3 months now so it will have been 4 by the time its done. Theres loads of room for it to be moved around, and as its shut on weekends the prepper just works on mine, sort of like his own project.
Hes phoning me weds eve about going back on tursday to see any updates.

Hard drive recovery programs can get stuff back Jay. I thought I lost over 100gb worth of stuff until I ran it through a recovery program. Quite lucky really!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....UPDATED!!
Yea Dave they have 100%..
Ok, went to the paint shop this a.m. The roof is nearly complete as is the doors and boot. There are now 3 people working on the car, with a view for final prepping tommorow and into two paint boots (plastic trim in one, shell in other) ready for a meeting with the paint gun first thing monday morning!!!
Right updates as it stands now...
Sides with doors in thick primer...
Roof....As shown the sunroof aperture had its usual crud, but its been sorted now.
Boot...( What he has done to get the chubb lock hole etc removed and welded is simply superb!!)
The prepper noticed a slight bit of rust eating at the paint underneath the seam sealer on the underside of the boot...So prepped that aswell.
Front Scuttle...
All thats left is to get the car into the oven for a day to cure the primer then final prep time, before the painter attacks it...
The panels on the car look ultra sharp, with no ripples nor wobbles etc. Up close it looks even better. The painter came over and was telling me that if i wanted to I could go into the booth with him while he paints it and take pics but ive declined the offer, so he said he will add to the other load of pictures that hes already taken on his I-Phone already...ones which i didnt even know he was taking
Sooo, as it stands the car looks like its gna be wearing its fresh coat by next week!!!!
Good job my car didnt have a £5 k repaint like the red mustang (in a few of my older pics), only to come straight out of one paint shop and into where mine is ending up like this again.... .
£5k repaint...
Straight into where mines being painted...to this.....
Any comments wether ripping it apart or complimenting it, are both welcomed muchness!!!

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....LARGE UPDATE 13.07.12
Yeah it nearly there!!!
Jony- the primer IS very high build, but that is only before its knocked back to where the rear quaters are at the min. The doors will go back to that level, then when it comes out of the oven its finally re-done around every panel etc, then dusted off, prepped, then painted
Glad yas enjoy....Now just got to try and figure out again how to post the last 10 pages onto passionford, where ive got another thread....somewhere!!!

Once again, simply stunning. Hope I win the lottery so I can do this to mine one day!
With the extra protection you've done underneath for anti-rust, have you done anything regarding the bodykit on the sills and arches? Those tend to be nasty even after 5 years.

Re: Fiesta RS Turbo Restoration....LARGE UPDATE 13.07.12
Dan, the car has been shultzed and zinced under where the arches and kit will sit so its gna be extremely hard for any rusting to occur on the car.
Dave is right, i have investigated the damp issue i had in my garage for years and totally gotten rid of it. Its now been membrane treated, underlayed and carpeted and with core-dec placed in the roof space to stop dust and earwigs falling on it.
It will also have a fitted cover or carcoon so should be near enough 100% dry in there even through the winter!!!
Thanks for the comments tho people!!!
