Yeah I see that one last night before we started talking bout this, it's a nice looking car wouldn't take much to sort it out ether by the looks of it iv seen some real nice ones go cheap.

yeah i know mate, does look fairly tidy from the pic, but we all know what pictures can be lie, make a rotton turd out to be a minter at times :lol:
its when you get the kit off and start poking around the boot floor and inner wings that it starts getting a bit iffy,
i was lucky when i got mine, was after one for ages, picked it up for £250 and on the isle of wight too, and the colour i wanted!

rust wise, well have a look at my thread, theers not much really considering the age of the car, but early ones tended not to rust as much as the later ones (in most cases) due to the grade of steel that was used.

Yeah I get wot your saying their mate their can be some rite old dogs under all that war paint.

I wernt to the garage yesterday cut the other sill of and it's all prept now ready to get the new one
put on. I must say this time the sill is strait fits perfect no messing with it this time so I must of got
a good one this time!!
After this just the front end then all the metalwork is finished but it is getting done pretty quickly.
I'll put picture up later.

this is wot the car looked like under the sill, this side was very good it surprised me how good it wassince i had to rebuild most of the other side up.

the sill all done now.. you was def rite jay this side was def a perfect fit must of really got a crap one on the other side.. shes looking good tho just the front end left now plus couple little wholes, cant wait till theirs no more welding.

it is shocking with some of these panels, i hope the pattern part panels i have to get for my xr2 are a good fit, all the front end is gen ford, but rear quarters and sills wont be :oooh:

Yep it's coming on very nice now since iv never welded till now, and to think I was gonna scrap it a year ago
got my girl and mate to thank for that or it would of been done.
How much have you got to do on your xr?

Iv put the doors on since iv done them, they open and shut fine. Only did that yesterday I marked where the sills come up to on the inside and coupe etheir end of the sill and lined them up that way their a good fit considering the hassal.

Well I'm sure it will get done in the end. I can only work on mine one day a week but I'm making progress tho so it's all good! It will get done when your ready just look at your turbo.

yeah i know mate.
had some problems at the start of year so i stopped working on it, they took a while to sort out and i havent as yet got back onto it, but i will soon, and once i start on it, it will move quickly

yep, money is the key.
i got most of the bits when i could, and tis only a few panels,. about £140 worth i need, rear quarter, sills and inner arches, got the rest, minus odds and sods which are peanuts from scrappy

I think all mine cost 200 for everything it's not bad really to rebuild a car up, the rest iv just made up from sheet metal I brought cutting and shaping with couple of hammers and dollys. How long u been working on cars? Your very good with them.

since about 15 i guess mate, my dad has been into cars all his life so knows hes stuff and i always helpped him when younger working on them and fixing them, and when i got my own car i carried on doing my own car, and mates cars etc and been fcuking about with them every since so self taught mate

Yeah sounds like myself been working on them since I got my own and before then on mates cars. Started when I was helping my mate do his mini he put a metro turbo engine in it I think I got the car bug then you never stop after that. Ha.

hey ppl. aint done much since was on last got few pics tho. heres few things iv done, put the new front crossmember on pretty easy really and lined up all the front not finished it yet as im going to bolt the wings on this time to make thing easy later on in life. managed to pick up the rear floor pan to so ill be cutting that out next few days and welding wot needs doing on that plus sorting the front slampanel which ill be welding on but more on that next time.
