Postby Rob-85 on Mon Aug 28, 2006 9:44 pm

Hi People,
I recently bought myself a FRST and im looking to get her tuned up, would like to gain another 30-40 bhp.
Any ideas on simple mods ?
Or does any one know of a reliable tuning company ?

Rob.

Usual stuff mate really.

Performance Air Filter, Performance Exhaust, 165chip (which i have for sale :D ) set boost to 12/13psi and you're laughing.

You could also fit an uprated intercooler on there too. I did and turned the boost up to 15psi with some uprated plugs and 10 psi actuator.

I had somewhere between 170-180bhp.

Car ran trouble free for 5 years and i'm only changing the spec now cos i want big power.

If you want to go a bit further you could get a 195chip and some beige injectors. Boost is set to 16 psi and you should see around 190.

You'll need to know whether you have OFAB or OFAC management too.

HTH

Ok,

Was you running those mods with the standard brakes or where they upgraded?

Also, what are peoples thoughts on Power Engineering ?
Because my other option is to take her to Uxbridge and have them carry out the work for me, as im fairly new to all this and wouldn't really know what i was looking at :-? :-?

Focus ST170 Calipers & 300mm discs. Standard brakes are shabby.

Power engineering are a good company, just leaving round the corner from them i have been going to them for quite a while, although very pricey but suppose you get what you pay for :D

Start by sorting the chassis as the stock kit can barely cope with the 130bhp.

Once you have a nice suspension and brake setup I would opt for a decent stainless exhaust system, an induction kit and a 165 chip. This should keep you grinning for a while. From here you can go as mad and wild as you want, the only limitations are your imagination and your wallet.

If you are going on a quest for any real grunt you will need to file the frankly rubbish T2 turbo in the bin and find yourself a larger T3 from the Escort RS Turbo.

Also depends on what exactly you want from your car.

The rs has a new mongoose exhaust system already and an induction kit is on the way.
I will find out some info regarding the calipers and brakes as mentioned by DaveRom
Then i will def look into purchasing a 165 chip.

Cheers for the info lads.
