fiesta rs turbo, updated, 29/03/16
Re: fiesta rs turbo, ford fair prep
been busy today sorting the RS, cleaning up engine bay, got a little more to do tomorrow and gotta drop the front bumper off and fit my kenlow fan.
wash, polish, hoover and clean up inside and shes good to go.
well no, i have a slight starting problem, starter motor doesnt kick in sometimes, kick the fuse box and it works 99% chance its a iffy connection due to a bit of corrosion or something of a relay (green one more than likly)
painted gearbox as it was flaking, not happy with the results but what can ya do when its in the car....
jacks been painted too as it was surface rusty, again disapointed with the result, very disapointed tbh, so will look into breaking it down for powder coating after fordfair
few pics
got some early gen ford all red HT leads that i might put on too, im sure i put a pic up of them ages ago on this thread, there still in the shed and still covered in $hit, so there take some cleaning, might do it might not, see how i feel

cheers guys, and yeah its good to be working on her again
spybeycustoms, you wont miss me, ill be the bald one with wife and 3 kids in tow
ratspeed, how could you miss it
little more done today, couldnt do to much due to bloody rain
first up ive had a tyre that keeps going flat, bead was leaking so had that done today, so much for the £9.50 i was told on the phone, when it came to paying £17.50 please , they didnt even pull my pants up when they had done me!
still, with any luck it wont leak again as its the second time its been sealed in last year
fitted the kenlow fan today also, wasnt gunna bother untill after fordfair but as the front bumper had to come off so i could jack the car up i though why not.
so made some brackets up and mounted it, cut the plug off a old fan, sleeved the wiring and on she went.
yes, they are picture hooks ive modded for the fan
these pics are of the gearbox i done yesterday, as you see it flaked a fair bit, and the new paint, ok tis still wet and only just been done, but i dont think it looks very good, im a bit gutted with the result, but still, have to do now

Re: fiesta rs turbo, ford fair prep
cheers guys, with any luck ill be there early about 8 im hoping, can get it cleaned and done and get round the show, last year finished sorting car at 11.30 which was too late for my liking
had to free the rear brakes off this morning
1 slider on each rear caliper had seized, and the handbrake on one side was partly seized, fcuking things, do i buy new calipers or just go back to drums...
its edging towards drums at this rate, but were see what bargins can be had on the old ebay for calipers first, cos i aint paying £80 each for them!
wait for rain to stop then i can get out and wash and polish her, so much for bed for 6pm

Re: fiesta rs turbo, ford fair prep
I saw her to jay looking very nice indeed although the stand wasn't very easy to find with all the others clubs in the area where was the clubs banners etc
A question for you if i may..
That new fan you've fitted do you find it cools the engine any better than the standard one? as iv been looking at them myself for my cosy front bumper FRST that indecently came 2nd in its class at the concours yesterday which i was very pleased with

cheers dude, dunno what happened about the banners mate, and it was tucked out the way a bit.
hard to say about the fan just yet tbh mate, spent more of the time driving, and traffic wasnt too bad and we didnt stay still very long so to speak, but although tis a 10inch fan, the blades are only 5/8th of a ench smaller than the standard fan, and im pretty sure this kenlow spins faster then the standard one on my RS so im sure it will be alright.
well done for coming second mate, i see the car on my walk around, although i gotta say i tend to be in a world of my own and seeing it there it didnt click it was your car

Thanks jay was very pleased with the resolt, makes all the hard work worthwhile .. Yeah there's certainly lots to try and take in especially if you where like me leaving home at 330am, didn't get back till 1045 last night a bloody long day but well worth it ... As for the fan yeah iv heard they spin faster than standard units so they should be well up to the job, i mite invest ..

i think if i could get a 12 inch one at a good price i would, but dont think it warrents a 12 inch at full price if you get me.
and as for times, i was up at 2 am after hour to haour and half sleep, out the door at 3.15, 4 am ferry, got home about 9.30/10pm, so a bloody long day here, but yeah, worth it mate

Re: fiesta rs turbo, ford fair prep
yeah its a nightmare, missed the 4am ferry last year and had to wait 2 hours for next one
im thinking of getting a alloy rad myself and maybe a pre cooler for the turbo, but were see.
what stand was you on this year, and how did you go about getting on it? im gunna go on a different stand from now on i think, dont get me wrong, i like to be on the FT stand, but its always a bit out the way you know, and the cost for me to get there i wanna be in a good spot that makes it more worth while.
im not intrested entring any thing, car isnt good enough for that imo, just want a decent spot, more so as with any luck the xr2 will be with me next year so ndouble expense, and for that i dont wanna be stuck in a $hit spot again.
you know a guy walking down the bridge summed our area up when his missis pointed ove to it, hes words were " fu ck all worth looking at over there"
that annoyed me, but then stuck out the way everyone gunna think all the best stuff is in the middle and all the crap tucked around the outside, when its not all crap and these cars get missed

Yeah i run a Escort S2 airtec turbo cooler with two slimline fans mounted to it, seems to work very well and for the price there abit of a bargain
as for where i was within the show i was in was in the concours area (show n shine) it's a really good central spot. I would be very pissed off to jay to of heard them sort of comments from people after all the hard work and effort put in to be there, but i have to say it was abit of crappy spot and what didn't help was the fact there was no banners or signs where up telling people what the stand/club it was. i stood at the bridge looking around and 99% of the other stands/clubs had big banners up flying which you could see clearly from the bridge, so it was a case of just walking about till i recognized car's such as yours and tweeks etc which i doubt most other people wouldn't of done but as you say there was some really nice motors on display in these areas just a shame they where so out of the way from the main show area..

Re: fiesta rs turbo, ford fair prep
got any pictures of the airtec rad fitted mate? and how much was it out of intrest?
yeah the lack of banners was a bit strange, im unsure if anyone had them or if it was a case of no one could be bothered to put them up?? which ever though it was a bit of a slap in the face considering forum members chipped in for them if i remember right, but its done now, but yeah to hear that matey say that did confirm what i thought about the spot, there was some great cars around but everyone seemed to pass without a blind bit of notice so if i can, i think i'll try for another stand next year.
how did you or how would i, go about getting on the show and shine stand?
