fiesta rs turbo, updated, 29/03/16

ok it was still on 4 axle stands and had no front light etc but thats only a minor technicality

only a small update today and nothing majour.
its back on 4 wheels again and really thats about it, didnt get over till late (becoming common that ) and with that and finding my trolly jack needed topping up with oil, which i didnt have to hand it took a while getting it down off the stands, having to use blocks and what not.
prob would of been just as easy to dig the big trolly jack out the shed but my dad wasnt sure if it needed oil too so didnt bother.
anyhow its back on the deck, and as its been on stands for so i long i open door to get a spanner and cracked my head on the roof as i forgot ot was now lower
just some tinkering to do tomorrow and at some point maybe this week the dash will be coming out as i need to replace the underlay as i ripped a load of it out when the windscreen leaked and it got wet.
will not be doing pictures of the dash out for the fact i dont want people knowing where all the alarm and immobilizers boxes are/will be
but then again i might leave that to when it resprayed, im unsure yet.
no pictures as i couldnt be bothered

It's the best sight/feeling putting them back on the ground! Then you go back the next day and it's dropped another 15mm I'll be in the same position in two day's time, can't believe you beat me  Know exactly what you mean about smacking your head when you get in again, and only having to lift your foot about 7" for it to clear the door seal

Oh yeah, I forgot about all that! In that case...
I win!
There's my little morale-boosting comment of this thread! As you say, far better to brave the rain and cold now so you can enjoy the good weather INSIDE it

jayrs :always time for a smoke mate
If you don't stop smoking soon that quote will be on your tombstone.
Haven't you seen that advert that lists them chemicals then the guy says by the way they are all in cigarette smoke ?

It's not worth it Mr Knuckles, smokers aren't intelligent enough to understand any of the information or adverts that are passed their way. Do you think they'd breath smoke into their bodies all day long if they had brains?!

blah blah blah
with what we used to have to breath in at work smoking is nothing.
first thing in the morning the sweet sweet smell of exotherming resin, SP340 glue, fiber glass dust, oh im glad i dont work there anymore
i smoke roll ups and theres fsr less cr@p in that than strights and i will be quiting soon anyway.
plus a 50g pack last me as much as 2 weeks
anyhow, this aint a smoking post its a restore post and i have a very little update
all i done today was tinker, thought there would be more to do but i guess cos im so good i done it all first time round.
all i had to do today was adjust the throttle cable.
i noticed the smell of petrol again when it was running so checked the weak points, and found it on the fuel filter, so a qiuick nip up and that solved that.
topped up brake fluid, and oil too as its down level now.
didnt get round to fitting the new induction kit filter as i failed to find the alloy pipe to connect it to the turbo intake hose so im gunna have to buy some 3 inch alloy pipe to do that but its got the old one back on there for now.
tidyed up the inside of the car and put all the tools back in the right tool boxes and got it all cleared at the front so i got room to fit a seat or take dash out as and when.
and also, after putting the battery from the rs on my little run around fiesta and going for a 20 min drive, it still failed to start the run around, well it didnt even turn the starter so the rs's battery is focked so need a new one.
but i had a dig about in my receipts and found the receipt for the battery which has a 4 year warrenty and that dont run out till 28/8/2007 so guess where im off to tomorrow
thats all now, and prob will be for a while as i need to crack on with the body work but cant untill i got somewhere inside to do it as doors are coming off, windscreen out etc so fingers crossed i can find something fairly quick as i really really want this beast back on the road

well as ya guessed, not a update as such as weather has been bad so not been out to it.
anyhow, i managed to get a new battery off the warrenty, was touch and go, although they didnt really have much of a leg to stand on and the guy knew i was giving him a load of $hit when i told him it had been off the car 6-8week (yeah, and another 10 months )
they dojne all there tests and told me it was sulphated right up (sorry if not spelt right) which i sort of guess with the sides sounting to round anyhow 4 days later brand new battery so im happy.
and my uncle came over the other day, although i didnt see him he told me he had found his devilbiss gravety feed spray gun and bought it over for me and its sat in his place over here waiting for me to collect,
my uncle is in his late 70's he wont be using it again, so its basicly been given to me, cheers uncle
all i gotta do is find somewhere to sort the body now, got door ro change and what not and the rubbing down etc so really need to find somewhere quick so i can crack on, 2 days work and she would be ready for paint, if i had the paint yet
oh well, if weather is good tomorrow ill prob nip over see if theres anything i can do to it

things looking good now guys, ive been back down my uncles garage and meassured up yet again and with moving a couple of machines it will give a little more room, not enough to spray maybe, but more then enough to get the car in and do what ever to.
i was down there friday where me and my dad cleared a load of cr@p out, well moved it, we still gotta move the ride on mower yet, not sure where to so might take that up my dads and put it in shed up there as it will be safe and out of weather.
anyhow while there today we replaced a few bits of wood over the pit as they were rotton, but then so was another bit we found when i put my foot through it and nearly crushed my b0llocks, so the whole lot was replaced, we dont want the wheel of my car going in there now do we
all thats left to do is move 2 small press machines, get a radio and kettle up there and then my car which should be in the week if i get time if not it will be the coming weekend.
all in all, not really a update, just a progress report

whats this pick on jay day, not good enough i fell -ish down a pit
pics up of what, the car is on 4 wheels now, thats all
but ill get some pics of it if ya want, will have to wait till about tuesday now.
spraying wise mate i dunno, if i cleared the garage fully i would prob just have enought space around the whole car to spray but im not gunna be able to move the big ass bench against the side wall, uncle wont let me, which is fine its his garage after all.
its hard to explain the lay out of it as its not ya normal garage, im not gunna say to much about it or where it is, but i will get a pic of the inside to explain what its like and your see my problem with it.
i can spray the door shuts etc in there and the new boot lid and doors, but worst case, ill have to get it all preped and new wing on etc and wait, till summer time and build a booth of some form on the outside of the garage and do it there, but at this point im just looking at getting it in the fully preped and ready state.
we aint all lucky to have a massive barn like ya self james
wish i did though, car would of been on road months and months ago

gazebo is not my friend mate, had to bin my last one as it was so old, but its too cold to spray out side over here, remember im on the isle of wight and the sea is only about 2 miles away
as i said above, when it warms up a bit and the wind and rain die down a gazebo will be my friend
as for the pit, the garage has its own pit, back in the day before 4 post lifts and what not, anyhow there was some 2x6 wood over it so you could walk over it etc, we replaced some as it was rotton and i stuck me leg down it just over a year ago, but today while steping on a bit of the wood that we didnt replace i put me leg down it, i stomped it as it looked iffy (was holding on to something) and it was fine till the last stomp when i let go of what i was holding on to and the wood snapped as it was rotton to fock and my leg followed it down the pit.
laughted about it but i felt a bit of a c0ck
and there anit no pics of me with my leg down pit
and no i wont remove a couple of bits and stick me leg down it to show you what it was like
