jayrs :i know some people love them others hate them, clark made his thoughts known when on phone to be today, 90's, c@hvy, $hit were just some of the words he used

i have my views on sunstrips that is correct

i liked my recaro sunstrip until i saw the error of my ways. They suit modded cars tbh. it really didnt suit my car when more and more parts became standard.

shame about the screen. i payed £57 for a screen on the french rs only for that to happen banging in the last bit. gutted aint the word... :x Had to go out and buy another for £57

Good progress - i cant wait to see this at ford fair fella all back together

cheers dude.
ive decided to leave the screen in, for a few reasons.
1 being the sunstrip
2 being its out of view etc and guy at MOT station asures me it will not effect the MOT due to its location and size (as best as i could say on the phone)
and 3, when the tax disc is fitted it will cover 3/4 of it anyway.

so it will do for now, i want to put a heated screen back in, so ill change it when i find a good fully working heated screen or untill i get windscreen cover

i done like people to see what alarms and imobilisers i have and where they are

niracka

i never liked them, but fitted one years back, mainly due to the fact i couldnt get hold of a top tint, but it was a red strip which looked crap, and i mean crap, how i left it on i really dont know

this ones black, it dont take up much screen and doesnt show up that much.

ill get a pic tomorrow.

will update tomorrow too, cant be arsed to do it now, plus i havent got any pic's

I know the screens for a mk3 fiesta are cheap as i had one in i think the second white on and it was £20 fitted, my new screen in the cosworth was £60 due to it having a tinted bit at the top.

update time.

first up im not counting my chikens before they hatch, but progress is looking good  :)

been doing all the little odds and sods last coulple days, not done any compounding ot what as it bores me to death so ive used my time to do other things.
my dad has been up helpping me also.

the pics do most of the talking but to give ya a little run down.

rear calipers have been painted again just to freshen them up behind the newly painted wheels, fronts will be done sunday.
had a mare with the spare wheel tray, it came from a mk3 from the scrappy but i never give it a thought that it was from a 1.1, hence the FRST spare didnt fit it  , so i had a rusty one from a xr2i and the hook parts were cut off that and welded to the newer one and it now fits nice and after 7 years i have a spare wheel again

hand brake spacers were fitted that a FT memebr msde up for me, nice touch done the job spot on :D and the hand brake was adjusted up.

erm, what else,

oil cooler is fitted, left my dad in charge of making a bracket etc for it and he done a spot on job so happy with that.

more work inside, headunit is in etc.

and also, ive put a power point in the boot.
the wifes galaxy has 2 in the boot and though yeah thats a good idea, for little fridge for ford fair, or more to the point, if i need to plug little wheel compressor in or what ever,

ive done plenty more odds and sods but i lose track of whats going on and i only remembered to take pics at luch time, didnt get no more before i left.

pics though, some of the sun strip, i know its a love hate thing but it will do me for now till i get top tint.

Bloody hell you are cuting it close.

Good to see the lack of time isn't stopping you from attending to every little detail. Alot of people I know would just be rushing it now and missing little things which would undoubtably piss them off at a later date. So good on ya for that mate.

Nice to see the dash end all done :)

Nice one man. Hope you get her done in time.

I won't be attending ford fair unfortunately as I am real skint at the moment but make sure you get some good pics of her when you DO go.

I'm a little dissapointed not to be going really because it would have been nice to see a few people again and meet a few others including yourself and your little red car :)

Oh well maybe next time (Not the first time thats been said in this post  )

lol, cheers dude, no its been said a few times, but we wont say to much.
1 thing i will say and i really hope im not jinxing anything is i took out, well wife done it online in her name  , AA cover monday :oooh:
i thought it best be safe than sorry, i cant see any reason why it should break down, i done all the work to it i know every inch of my car and i have every faith that everything will be fine, however, that said, "should" anything go wrong, i.e the engine hasnt even done 5 miles since being built!, aint even done 1 really   , i dont want to be stuck on the motorway with no means of getting it home.

i will do a update tomorrow, will be late when its done though, but if all goes well tomorrow, it will just be odds and sods to finish off, nuff said for now, im going bed, wanna try and get out there for 6.30am, $hit, thats in 4 hours :oooh:

Yea always good to take breakdown cover. I just payed the extra £45 or whatever it is on my insurance for flux breakdown cover. I drive a focus that I'v been looking after sooo well and very much doubt it will break down but just incase it did, I know I am covered for it.

believe it or not down in London that's the cheapest screen available. i had a quote off auto glass for £150 ! for non tinted and non heated....

i went to masters windscreens. and they had them for £57. heated was near £115 :oooh:

In London everything is more expensive

Tax it online mate, the only thing you can do in a situation like that. The police would know if the cars taxed before they pull you up but if you explained the situation then most would let you on your way with one of those typical gay police speeches about how bad you been, all this coming from a boy 5 years younger than you   you'll be right though mate, you mk2 tanks are in the car ready

cheers guys, it will be well good to have her back on the road.
a couple iof bits will need attention after the show due to rushing :( nothing majour but im not happy with it, like the front bumper, ive not had time to sort out that bad bit on the side with that black paint, i would of loved to as people will prob think it looks $hit, but i couldnt spare the time to sort it, so thought best leave it incase it goes funlumps up, the old ford fair curse

yeah should fly though MOT, everything is new, ball joints, mounts bushes etc etc, but one rear caliper used to play up on the hand brake, ive had to give it some attention last week, hope it will be ok, after the show its being replaced, but im sure it will be fine, but apart from that, nothing else should be wrong

it does mate, passanger side is done, wheels on too,
gotta still do drivers side skirt and put wheels on.

a few pics i took random from this morning, not really worth posting but i got them so might as well.
the car is further on than the pics show, but tbh i didnt give getting pics at 9pm tonight a thought

oil cooler pipe bracket i made up as said yesterday

Image

made a bracket up for air filter, didnt want it rubbing on inner wing

Image

just some random pic's

Image
Image

brand new weather strips :Q putting them on just showed how fcuked the old ones were, nice tight fit, just as it should be :bonkers:

nope no bracket in the boot, i dont have a fridge, but a mate has a snap on one, another reason for putting the power point in the boot before the show rather than waiting till after :)
