Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild fcuking scum bag w@nkers!
well what can i say, 8 days on the road and some little C*NT! has keyed the bonnet!
went to lego land with kids today, car was fine at 6.30 this morning, get back at 8pm to find a nice key makr that spans 3/4 the width of the bonnet
out of all the cars parked in the line, they keyed mine, walked past the wifes, and keyed a black VW, keyed the 2 cleanest shinest cars in the row, im not fcuking happy!
it dont show very well but still.
really considering taking the rs off the road again now untill i get a council garage cant be doing with this $hit.
oh, and the turbo uis playing up , high oil pressure poor oil return is what i belive is causing some smokeon start up, i know the engine is fine, its deffo turbo smoke, but as soon as oil pressure drops back to about 40psi it stops smoking, and doesnt smoke at all when driving, will be sorting the oil retun this weekend or next and see what happens, but if the turbos fcuked its f**cked, not pi$$ed off about it, just disapointed really, still hey ho $hit happens, just a shame the keying happened, thats the icing on the cake

That must have been soooo annoying. I can't believe the little tugger who would do this to someone's pride and joy. Blatently jeleouse of something they will never have so they would rather ruin it than ellow someone else to have it
Hope you sort the smoking out without having to put a new turbo on mate.

Sorry to see that Jay , it always makes my blood boil when I hear of people's pride and joy (or even daily hack) being trashed by a member of the chive underclass who have no respect for anyone, despite the fact that we more than likely finance their very existance from working our b*llocks off every day
Someone went down our road keying all the motors (including our Focus) a few months back - you just wish that you were lucky enough to catch them red-handed and break their fingers

i would love to get hold of them and bust there fingers, but its more than likly gunna be a kid, witht he way things are now days, so much as look as them in the wrong way you on some sex offenders list, let alone grab them to give them a b0llocking
ah well, ill have to hope it doesn happen again, gunna take it off road for couple weeks to sort some bits and bobs off, and may leave it off road untill coucil give me a grage, which i hope wont be too long as i know at least 6 in the run i can see from my bedroom window are empty.
to speed them up ill park the rs on my front garden, they dont like it when you do that but i wont have more damage done to my car, even if i have to tell them a little white lie and make out the damage was worse than it was for my reason for keeping it on garden then i will do

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild some good news, some bad
update.
following the few problems ive had with my rs since getting it back on the road i took it off the road again, not for good, just to sort the problems, which were wondering and gen crap ness on the front end, like the bottom arms were gone, and the turbo smoking when cold.
well today i got a chance to have a look i started a new job 3 weeks ago and have been run off my feet, and been doing over time too and as much as i would of liked to of had a look before hand today was the day.
first up, some pics of when i took it off road and put her back in the garage.
had to move the xr2 out so took a couple of pics of that too
right on with the real stuff.
i took the top strut plates off today to check the shocks were seated right, and to be shure dropped them down and put them back up.
i took the drivers side bottom arm off to fine it, well, fine, nothing wrong with it at all, however to be double sure i changed it, and i have now gone back to the proper FRST arms, i wount explain why i went away from them again but those that have followed this thread should know.
for people that dont know, the FRST ball joint is 10mm long and 10mm set back
anyhow, moved onto the passanger and well, whats wrong with this picture...
for those that are not egal eyes, take note of the drop link, its not connected at the bottom, not this is not down to forgetting, its down to the fact the nut has come off , i bunged a new nut on, and lucky the thread was still ok.
and guess what, the passange side bottom arm is also fine, nothing wrong with it, but i still changed that over for a FRST arm, these FRST arms came off of jons (frsjon) FRST and are fairly new and are fine, so i know the arms etc were and are ok and it muct of been the drop link causing all the problems, i would of maybe expected it bust but off...
and the bad news, the turbo is a bit fcuked.
i will still do the oil return mod and see how it goes but as you see from the pic, i think its a bit too late for turbo..
its amazing how quick you can fill a space once you think you have finished with it isnt it
oh and on a slight change, im thinking i might go for electric mirrors, more so after i picked this badboy up this evening for the sum of £2.50
but were see, if i dont i aint lost hardle anything

oh there tight one thing i always do is make sure things are tight.
i think i will get a new set of nylock nuts for them too.
i have plans for a turbo, inc that one on the car i have 4 T2's, a rebuilt kits and some machines, and being a engineer by trade, im sure i can sort it so the oil seal will seal and not leak

Yea I'v heard of people having funny front end knocking and wierd feelings when turning that have turned out to be drop link related. Stick some nylock nuts on um
Shame about the turbo mate. Sure you can get some cheap from someplace if you dont manage to get a good one out of the spares you have.

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild some good news, some bad
Probably a really stupid question but does it have to be a specific turbo then??? I mean whats to say you can't just use one from a saab or something? Is it all to do with fitment??
I have asked someone else this question before but never really got much of an answer, and I know your usually one to give a good answer so fire away

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild some good news, some bad
yeah fitment is a issue, that said, there are cars that use the T2 turbo, and when it comes down to it, when you remove the exhaust and compressor housings so all you got is the body of the turbo they basicly the same, im not saying all T2 bodies are the same as there is bound to be a difference between the makes, but i would say all garret T2's no matter what car more than likly use the same body, but im not 100% sure, more than likly the body would be the same but the fins on the exhaust wheel and compressor wheels would differ.
i was told once the TD mondeo turbo is basicly a T2, ive never looked into it, but it will be something i shall look at when im down the scrappy next time im there, hell ill be looking at everything with a turbo

Oh god I hope I'v not started something here Jay lol.
I kind of understand what you mean mate but what exactly would be stopping you from just using a "t2" from another make if you can get it cheap and in good condition???

if you mean a direct replacemt, it comes down to fitment, if anothe T2 has the same body and fins on the wheels, theres nothing stopping my changing the housings over and bolting it up mate

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild some good news, some bad
they differ for the engines there designed for.
from what i undersatnd about turbo wheel design, for lower reving engines the fins are different to catch more gas than that of a higher reving engine which can do away with some fins, or have different angled fins as it gets enough gas flow over it due to the higher revs (or vis verser i forget), that said, it is all down to the application its being used, remember when there fitted to mass produced cars the manufator has a turbo made to there spec, or they use one that does what they want it to to produce the power they want with the economics of not being a fish drinking the fuel.
ill be honest mate, i dont know enough about turbos to say 100% yeah, thats is that this is this, im going on what ive learnt, been told, read, come across etc.
when im next at scrappy ill see what turbos i can come across and remove and see if i can get some pics to explain what im saying, plus its all spares
