right, rs is basicly off the road again
i took the turbo off and stripped it and tbh i think its safe to say its fcuked :(
the other 3 T2's i got i also stripped down and there all b0llocked too, the shafts are worn out and the oil seal grooves are just too damn big and i have the biggest seal they do for the T2 and even then it looks right but doesnt seal for some reason.

so now, with all the things ive looked at about T25 and T28's, i think im gunna forget the idea of the T25 or the T28 and stick with a T2 or go with a T3, this is because there are different types of t25/t28 not only in fitment but internal turbins etc so its safer for what i want to stick with whats known, the std T2 as fitted to the rs, or the T3 as fitted to the escort rs, and tbh it will more than likly be a T2, as i like what it gives, the lag of a T3 would pi$$ me off after a while im sure but of worse case im gunna have to go for it but for now im looking at the T2 from turbo technics with a price tag of just shy of £600  , but im not gunna buy cheap, if i spend a good amount i should get a good turbo, and they give a 2 year/24k mile warranty on the turbo then i cant see them sending out a bag of $hit like one place that quoted me £245 exchage for a T2, hate to think how little time that would last.

anyway, if anyone has had a turbo from turbo technics please feel free to tell me about your experaince about them and there turbo, good or bad.

oh, while im saving to get the turbo which is gunna be a month or 2, im gunna get a shaft machined or if i can get the lathe up and running, my self i or my dad will machine the shaft our self just wide enough to fit 2 seal, twin seals is a bodge if im honest and a cheap way around a new shaft but seeing as i have a couple of new seals, and 4 fcuked T2's, ive got nothing to loose by trying.
for anyone interested, the std T2 oil seal is 1.58mm wide, so the shaft needs to have its groove 3.16mm wide with no more than 2 thou max over size, so it not as easy as what most may people think, not when you consider a human head hair is 5 thou thick :oooh:

well there it is, the rs off the road again, its sat taxed,. moted and insured :(

Not good mate, The T2's are a pain when they and always will be due to the cost. Hence the common change to T3!

Will all work out in the end and at least once you know you have a healthy turbo it should stay like that for a good few years to come!

yeah T2's are a pain, its the shaft you see, it wears out to a point seal do not seal it as they dont do wide enough ones, and even then, they still leak sometimes.
im on the case of twin sealing, ive pmed the guy that made some bits for me not long ago but he must be away or something as not heard back but i may have something closer to home lined up, more info should follow tomorrow from the guy so i'll know then

jon, keep on it mate, worst case i'll T3 it.

Jay i would use this opportunity to add a T3 to the engine, when i first did mine on JNE (which is still on and working fine today) it changed the drive completely and felt like a proper turbo.

Get yourself a stg 1 or 2 and you'll never have to change for years, it's not really worth spending money on T2 as they are s**t and that came from a turbo builder.

Give http://www.crturbos.co.uk/ a call they are as good as any of the big names and come highly recommended

ill have a ganda at that site later mate when i get back from work.

i know the T2's are problems when they go, but i like the power it gives and the drivablitly of it, a T3 is laggy for me, something in between the T2 and the T3 would be ideal but its getting one, and i cant justify the cost of a hybrid for the 12psi i run.

as i said though mate, if i really have to go T3 then i reluctantly (sp) will :(

Unless you tend to use alot more revs and rag the car alot then the T2 will be a better option. Like you said much more usable power.

Thats why I have put the cat back on my focus because I get more torque lower down the rev band.

Postby jayrs on Sat Oct 18, 2008 3:50 pm

just a little update, nothing major.

the rs is still off the road, the turbo i was hoping to get which was a T25 im not getting any more, ive been let down and the cars not being stripped so im not happy about it but what can ya do eh.

not sure when i will be getting a turbo now, im gunna see what money is left after payday and go from there, but we getting a new tv this month which is taking up a load of it, if i could i would wait and get a turbo but hey ho.

anyways, have been getting a few bits and bobs, most from clark, cheers fella :)

have 2 steering coloum grommets, need 1 and 1 spare

Image

4 spark plugs, just for spares

Image

6 opening rear window caps, mine really need doing

Image

and 2 rear drum nut covers, they fit my rear disc conversion too, dont need them but hey, there spares

Image

new gear knob, black leather red insert

Image

alos got this red samco (yes it really is red....under there) will more than likly chop it about to replace some small rubber hoses still on the engine as they didnt come with the samco kit when i got it

Image

and this is as the rs remains

Image

Image

turbo is fcuked

Image

if i do go for a T3 it will be fitted on without to much hassle as you well know, but if i go for a T2 or a T25 i will be taking the engine out to fit the oil return in the sump.
im not gunna fcuk ar$e about with the engine still in there, ill pop it out bang it on the stand and sort it that way as i will not be using a rubber oil return pipe if i can help it, and for the time it takes to pop the engine out and put it back, its not worth the risk of the sump gasket going pete tong and leaking oil, i just cant do anything else untill i know what turbo im getting

and i really should clean this crap up

Always good to have spares :)

Would those Black window caps not just rust through like the others did?

When you fit the new ones you stick grease on the inside of the cap to prevent them bonding together with corrosion.

M1K3Y_B , that little lot from clark was about £22 i think, the red samco was tenner.

chrise, i plan to grease it up before fitting, well copper grease anyway, normal grease will seep out after time, more so in summer when it gets hot

jimmyesh

a lot of the stuff was dumped in place when getting the rs out, had like 30 mins to get the rs out and get front bumper on with the lights etc and get it to the place for the mot  , ok i was nearly 30 mins late for the mot but ive not really been back to tidy up, just added to it.
the zetec engine and some of the other stuff was at my parents place and they needed it out the way so again it was dumped in place quick, then the rs had to go back in there so never had the chance to sort it out.

worst bit now, the rs is in there and will be untill i sort the turbo, the xr2 is sat out side waiting to go in there, and (bear with me) the garage at my uncles other place which hes selling/sold is full with all enginnering stufff, some machines, shed loads of small tools, welders etc etc all the stuff for the engineering workshop me and my dad have been saying we're set up for the last few years and that now or within 3 months maybe if we really lucky 4 months, has to come out and go in that room untill the workshop at the back of the building is cleared of the old machines and crap thats still in there!

ive got a fcuk load of clearing up to do   , which wasnt a problem when i was unemployed i had nearly all the time i wanted, but now im working, doing over time and am on call 1 week in 3 (like this weekend and next week  ) i have very little time to do anything

Jay,

I haven't forgotten your request about pictures from the heater box of a Fiesta with aircon. I've searched on all my pc's and cd's and couldn't find anything that could give you an idea. I sent a couple of years ago these pictures to Mark (Excursion), you should ask him, he might have them. On the other hand please ask me wathever you want to know about the aircon set up on my car and I will try to explain as much as my knowledge allowes me. The only very strange thing on my car was the ac compressor/alternator bracket, the other things were almost oem lookin.

Sory for hijacking the post and you car looks beautiful.

Regards

chris, tell me about it, i will more than likly pay £600 for a turbo, turbo technics do a hybrid for the fiesta for £495 plus vat (about £580) plus post exchange and 2 year warranty so might as well go for that, even if the fcuking w@nkers havent replied to all 3 of my fcuking emails :x :x
