Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild, back on the road, again
nope, xr2 is still sat there.
i will be moving it into the garage monday i think, maybe tomorrow if i get time, and at some point will fit them bonnet hinges to see whats what, but there be rough fitted, mianly as i want to get the bonnet all lined up so i have somthing to work to, line wise, for when i take the wings off, and ill prob do the front panel too, but ill update the xr2 thread with all that info when i get round to doing something on the car
nice one jon, when its on road if you want that work done we talked about we can have a look at it and go from there mate.
rs is taxed, and i got the tyre rolled off, rim cleaned up and tyre put back on with some bead sealer, so hopefully it wont go down anymore
had to drive it up and down the road before i put it back in the garage today though.
man i missed it will take it for a spin monday i think as im off and not on call like i am today and tomorrow

why not get it at post office?
you do know you cant drive that car on the road untill you have the tax disc as its still a offence to not dispaly a valid tax disc, something i almost fell foul to before fordfair last year, hence the rush to get it mot'ed as early as poss on the saturday

As long as you have the reciept that you've paid for the tax, you'd have to be pulled over by a very very stoppy traffic officer to nitpick that one!

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild, back on the road, again
joke really, if its taxed its taxed.
anyhow, update time
i took the car out for a test drive this evening and to get some petrol.
no wondering no nothing, even if the drivers tyre did have 16psi in it oh yeah i pumped all the ytres up at the petrol station too.
she drives nice, boosting at 14psi though, which is 2psi higher then it was set at, didnt mean to boost it that much but after driving a diesel van around (even if it is a TD) i had to drive something proper
so all is well again, and i build my new ignition lock which i got from ebay up just now and will be fitting it tomorrow.
for anyone interested i will tonight or tomorrow be adding the ignition lock building guide to the lock/key guide i have in the guides section

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild, ah b0llocks lol
update.
after driving it about for a couple days and loving it all over again i have this to report
oh b0llocks!
seems i fell foul to the problem shared by some sierra owners
and that problem would be handbrake not holding after being driven.
for those that dont know i have rear disc conversion on the rs using sierra calipers, and these calipers do the braking and the handbrake.
now the cable needs tightening anyway which i know but holds fine so i havent got round to sorting it yet , but the problem i have fell foul to is that when the handbrake goes on it holds fine, then discs and pads cool and everything when cold contacts a little, in this case just enough to allow the car to move a tiny bit when parked on a hill
i went to see my parents and when i left i came out to find my car resting agaisnt the back of my mums C4
it didnt roll and hit it, it just crept down the lane (unless the tranny that parked behind hit the rs, but dont think so) and rested on my mums car which i parked about a foot away from, and the pressure on my bumper was in the centre where ive repaired before, well where i cut the grill part off years ago and the pressure was too much and cracked the bumper
im not bothered about it tbh, as im not happy with the paint on the bumper (if you been following the thread you know why) so its no biggy at all.
what is a kick in the balls is the fact it happened, when i first got the car on road for fordfair, within a week turbo went and the bonnet was keyed, this time, i taxed car week ago now this
whats gunna happen next time i tax it
not major as you can see, easy repair, but im thinking i might rip the whole repair i done years ago out and do it all again and slap a few layers of some proper think as fcuk fiberglass matting on i have to make it nice and strong.
the grill part of the cossie bumper i cut off in 99 and i fixed it up and used a bit of alloy to make it strong, but years ago i came out of work to find someone had hit the bumper and cracked it, basicly in the same place as above, although i repaired it, it did break the alloy away a little from the very first repair, so i had to fix that, guess it didnt take as well ,as this is the second time since it was hit that it has cracked there, so i think ill rip it all out and start again.
and no shaun, its not a reason to fit the standard bumper
