Did all FRST's av this??...99% your gona say yes..
HELP MR JAY [ERRR] im sh**ing it here as i cant remember removing one from mine when i ripped an binned my old lump...an if it did av one then i got a nasty feeling in my moment of rage i could of binned it...Got a feeling im gonna look a propper spoon here..
Cant see why someone would do away with it.I had a stainless zorst on it,thats only reason i can see why they might off binned it,But imop thats a bit risky surely as it braces it all 2gether...I do av the relevant(i hope )Wishbone carrier brackets, they have the extra nut welded on them to bolt the brace too...?....Can provide pic if helps??...
Cheers jay an soz to ask u as always an i hope im making sense here..While i hang my head in shame writing this

yeah they did mate.
it wont damage the car if it wont have one, but it braces the bottom, so if you havent got one and you have binned your/lost it, i do have one for sale (no bolts though)

mate you worry me the amount you go on about man love
bolts are M12 i belive, although i will double check as i have mine off the car so the bolts are in a pot.
the ones for sales not the one in the pic, its used condition and has been wrapped for a while.
if matey up the road drops his one off the 2i get the bolts off him too.
if it wasnt fitted, maybe the exhaust was banging on it

Looks good that oil return. How come you brazed it on and not TIG it or something???

niracka :Looks good that oil return. How come you brazed it on and not TIG it or something???
the tig welder isnt set up in the workshop mate and we also dont have any argon, i struggle to find Co2 on the side , welding it wasnt a option imo, as it just plan wasnt worth the hassle, with it brazed on, the braze flows between and around the joint so makes it stronger than it welded, its sealed fully, and it wont rust.
also, not shown, but ive brazed in a fitting on the sump plug side for the oil temp gauge.
small update, engine is stripepd bottom end all degreased etc and i started building it back up monday, but i damaged one of the crank thrust washers so i've orded some new ones which should of arrived today but the place couldnt find them last nigth so they have been sent today and with any luck will arrive tomorrow, but i wont have chance to fit them untill friday now, as im not hanging about till lunch time for them to maybe arrive then go out workshop, and thursday the missis has banned me from going out the workshop

Re: fiesta rs turbo, updated 30/5
update time.
new crank thrust washers didnt arrive untill wednesday, and i had pick my daughter up from pre school at lunch time so i didnt go out thw workshop wednesday, it was my birthday thrusday, and i dont do no work on my birthday friday i was busy,
i went out the workshop saturday but forgot to take some bits, and the lance for the spray bottol didnt arrive untill after i had left so didnt get much done, so went out there again today (sunday) taking the clutch, lance and couple other bits and bobs
after trying to find some cheap labour i bit the bullet and went for some expensive pro help to strip the head down, my nipper cost me a snickers duo, choc milkshake and a hot sausage roll
he done good too, i took one off to show him how to do it then left him to it and he done the rest by him self, and laid it all out as you see it, i just numbered the tissue to keep things in order, but then again, hes good with mechaincal stuff like me, so got a little jay replacment in the making (hes 9 before anyone asks)
anyhow, the bottom end was fully rebuilt, had a bolt snap when fitting the oil pump but lucky it snapped with a few mm sticking out the block and it undone easy, mainy cos i cleaned all the sump, oil pump, crank seal hosuing etc threads out with a tap, and copper greased the bolts like always.
although the old clutch wasnt really worn (even though it is about 10 years old ) i fitted a brand new one to the engine, purly for the fact i had it in stock and have done since 2005
you will notice i put a fitting in the sump to take the oil temp sensor, after degreasing the head my nipper was on with his own thing making something, so i had a little fcuk about to make up something a bit more secure to the sensor wire, to keep it neat and tidy, and to stop it getting damaged.
so with some scrap copper pipe i knocked this up, i soldered it rather than brazed, put some plastic tube on, then heat shrinked it (proper water proof stuff with a glue type stuff inside) over to secure it, pics show better than i explain.
its over kill, not techincally needed, and some may think a complete waste of time, but i had time to burn, and wanted it tidy and more important, the wire kept free from potental damage
thats it, i will be back out the workshop maybe next weekend now, im too busy this week to get any time out there, not that theres much to do now though, will paint the rocker cover again while its off, its not like its going to be final fitted untill the cam is here
oh, and the egaled eyed will notice i have done away with the std ford oil cooler, reason being, couldnt be arsed to wash it all out, the pipes are going a bit rusty now, and i dont see the need for it now, as ive had the mocal front mount 13 row cooler on there since the engine rebuild, so will link the water pipes, or if i get one in time, just bypass/remove the cooler pipes and fit one thats from a model without a oil cooler

i got my nipper out when i was doing the rebuild, he was 4 then, wire brush and some surface rusted disc he was not impressed
will do on the vids mate
Excursion :Good job with the sensor wire, especially in that area of the car
yeah thats why i done it mark, i could see something going wrong, suck as the weight on the drive shaft catching the wire or some crap like that
im going to have to put a plug on the end though now as theers no way i could get the engine out again (i hope i dont have to) without cutting the wire, so to keep it neat im gunna put a single pin plug in, or for now if i have to, a bullet connector

Re: fiesta rs turbo, updated 11/7 cam ordered
update time, although only a small one
called newmans today and ordered the cam, had a chat with dave newman while on the phone too.
£361 later, i had a cam ordered with followers, and clamping tool (couldnt be bothered to make one in the end).
cam will be ground to std spec and will be with me in 5-7 days, i dont think thats bad at all considering its got to be ground up, i would expect 5-7 days for one on the shelf from most places
with any luck i will have it next week, and i will get it in the engine as soon as i can, but im moving house also, and i belive the moving date is going to be the 22nd july, but its not confirmed yet, could be end of the month yet, so talk about got my hands full before fordfair
anyhow, after cam, im gunna see if the focus st3 rear calipers i got will fit the mounting brackets i got, other wise i have to make new ones.
i have decided not to got rs2k (so these will be up for sale soon), and with the expense of moving what with new carpets, cooker (as its all electric in the new builds now for some reson) etc, i dont have the spare cash to get recon sierra calipers this side of fordfair.
for those that dont remember, i got one rear caliper thats basicly fcuked
lastly, i wanna say a big thanks to AndyKam for sending me his newmans tappet clamping tool, but due to time and other things delaying me i never had time to make a tool so i ordered one, cheers again andy
thats it folks, more updates later

Re: fiesta rs turbo, updated 18/7
small update today.
oil cooler and pipes cleaned out.
intercooler painted matt black
pressure tested the alloy rad i got from jon (cheers again mate) all seems well so will paint once dried out over night, again in black, satin or matt, what ever i got in stock
re-painted the rocker cover.
i ignored my own advice and skimped on the prep and it bit back meaning i had to strip it right back, re-prime, and top coat.
the red is 2pac from a touch up gun as i had some left from painting the RS.
wanna say cheers to danny for doing the photo shopping of the rocker cover in different colours, but when it came down to it, the red still looked the best, so went with it.
cam should be with me tomorrow (tuesday) so tomorrow afternoon/wednesday i shall be building the head up and banging it back on the block and getting the engine back to the car and gettting it back in, i hope to have time to get it running before the weekend too.
im also now really considering going back to drums on the back, im not gunna get into discs over drums as ive always agreed they were better (drums) but it comes down to time, and spare money this close to fordfair, more so after i just shelled out £450 for new carpets for the new house, anyway couple pics as thats all i got

Re: fiesta rs turbo, updated 20/7 cam arrived
update today.
as said before intercooler and airtec rad have been painted black, interooler matt, rad satin, as thats what i had.

i only went black with it cos it looked dirty betwene the fine in the line thats open between bumper and bonnet, cleaning it with stuff didnt shift it so thoguth fcuk it im painting it black
same with rad too, light and dark bits over the fins, the back side of the fins of the rad isnt painted for 2 reasons, 1 incase i have to have a water way welded at some point due to the damage thats on it (s/h rad) and 2, theres not really much point but yeah, i will pass my own judgment as well once fitted, if i dont like, out comes the paint stripper
as for the shed guys, its a goodun aint it, no windows though...... and no power seems a bit stupid to me to not have one of the other, but still, i didnt pay for the shed so beggers cant be choosers
besides, i can/will run power to it later on anyway
