right its been a while, hope no one expects this to be finished cos its not, it aint far from it really but ive had other things to do as well so the rs wasn't really top of the list as such, ive had my hands tied up with getting stuff togeher for a small buisness im starting up with my dad but i cant say anymore untill ive spoke to adrian.
anyhow, 75 pics for you lot to look over to see what ive done to her since i was cut off back in feb, ill do my best to get them into order and sort of expain along the way, depends if i can be focked or not, lol
new passanger door and boot lid, noy bad for i think was £25 the pair, might of been £20 cant remember
the reason i changed the boot lid (and i got the swage lines back now)
anyhow moving on, delocked door and bootlid
the wings now on
random shot of the roof before i cleared it off, lol
trustly welders
front lower panle going on
trial fitted bumper and lights etc
opened out for mk3.5 mirrors
got another spare wheel try when i got the door and boot, for free too lol
inside passanger wing
outside, template for bodykit holes
this is where my rs currently lives
had a prob with drivers door, the hinges would line up for some reason so i cut one off and re alined it
dont worry its welded into place now and the blue is there as the paint was burnt ages ago trying to get a door pin out that came out in 3 bits in the end lol
front bumper needed some work due to being stored in a green house for a year, spinder cracks came out, not happy!
also finished re studing the other arches and started to make the penney washers with rubber seal, and i aint joking lol
sealed the front lip of bonnet before priming and paint
those of you that remember i put in a filler repair panel
i got the paint, was told 3 litres (unmixed paint that is, 5 litres once mixed) would be enough, its a good paint anmd covers well, made by ICI so im told but called max mayor, wants to be good, cost me £160 for 3 litres and 1.5 litres of hardner, oh and a litres of 2k thinners, lol
door shuts and stuff first off so doors can go back on etc
everything will get flated back a bit and another coat or 2 when the whole car is done
and thats it, upto date, currently building the frame work for the booth for spraying, just gotta hope some real nice weahtwer comes my way

I am going to scroll straight past that photo with half your workshop on the roof
Everything else is looking great - from that intro I thought we were going to see all you'd done was fit the centre console or something You've been busy! Looking really good dude, you'll curse/mutilate any bird that even thinks of taking a dump on that paint now!

Indeed. It seems weird that something that so distantly resembled a car was still driving in and out under its own steam

cheers guys.
h196jne, its a new glue they use where i used to work, smells like alraldite (if thats how its spelt) but goes off far better.
did do a test one in a old arch and it seemed ok, broke it out with a lot of force so not as good as the plexus but i cant get that plexus anymore so fingers crossed this will do the trick, and best of all i can get a fair bit of this new stuff, i got loads left in shed, lol, ill post a pic up of what it is in a bit mate.

well, thats hard one, so far we have used 3, first one was hydrovain which broke down, second a old skool one which broke when my dad revered into it and busted the pully off, and now im using a old skool hydrovain thats prob over 20 years old and still going strong, but thats 3 phase one so proper indrustal job.
the guns we been using is a devilbiss suction , model JGA, but ive just gone and got a brand new gravity feed one which arrived today, its only a cheapy one and i am yet to test it but it should be fine, but we have servied the devilbiss ready incase the gravity one is $hit
will update post in a bit with pics of it and another thing

update time, not much of one but its something.
got this through post today, its only a cheap one but fingers crossed it will do the job, if not the devilbiss suction type gun will be used,i made and fitted a new cork seal for the pot so thats ready on standby
my paint, all £160 of it so lets hope the gun above does a good job
had the paint a while, just only got a pic today, not thats its a good pic though.
and me and my dad put on our acme construction overalls and knocked this up, its not finished as its missing a center leg and the bracing for it, and them w@nky looking bits of wood at the ends are coming off, well 1 bit will to get car in but it was put on as the thing was a pain to try and move with just 2 of us.
approx size, 18ft, by 10ft but approx 8 ft high so its a bad boy.
wont be sheeting it over with the clear plastic untill the day.
and thats it, will finish it off tomorrow and get car flatted read and fingers crossed painted thursday, but as the hard core watchers of this thread will not, that is subject to change

I agree it does look a little narrow for spraying but you may get away with it if you keep right up to the sides
Was looking at some compressors yesterday. There was a 25 litre one and a 50 but i dont know anything about them. Is there any point in getting the bigger capacitly or not???? Also I dont suppose u got time to tell me how they work have ya???
ollie

my dad whos painting it reckons it will be fine so ill go with that
car didnt get painted today, if it dont rain over night or in the morning im aiming for tomorrow as the only other time might be money or next thursday.
way my lucks going it will be next month
the compressor works by sucking in air and compressing it, they have blow off valves to stop them over building up till they explode , and thats about it really, some keep pumping away and blowing off pressure, others stop when the pressure is reached, and you can set the pressue you want.
as with 25l or 50l, thats your call mate, what can you afford and how much room have you got. (me i would go for 50l, lol)
the 25l one will do i guess, but make sure you get a oil free one, what this means is some crompressors can put a tad of oil in the air, this is mainly for windy tools, but not what you want when your gunna spray, although i think most are oil free anyway, cant say mate, ive never brought a compressor in my life mate

well today was the day, its focking painted
didnt get to it till after lunch due to helping my dad lay some cement.
any how, the finishing touch was done to the "booth"
nice one to my mate wes for getting me some masking tape and mixing cups :top:
and a big up to MATCOS (passionford) for sending me some cossie bumper washer jets out of the kindness of his heart
pitures talk for them self, and the cheap spray gun worked just as well as the devilbiss we have been using so happy with that too.
cars had 3 or 4 coats, although in some pictures you wont think it but it has, i was in there topping the gun up and getting covered in red s**t, lol, but theres enough paint on there to allow for compounding etc.
you will notice the bonnets not on, this is due to it would of been a pain to get to the scuttle panel, but im not worried as the hinges still need to be painted as does the mirrors, skirts and arches and front and rear bumpers but the main thing is the car is done and once compounded up i can put it together anyway, pics.
once it had been left to dry a while i put her back to bed, and there she will stay untouched for about 5 days, mainly due to being busy rather than anyhting else but gives it time to fully dry and harden etc i guess

Now after you do all that hard work compounding it , comes the dreaded refitting everything ....
