ive not really had a prob with spider cracks or hairline cracks as suck, i did on the spliter when i caught it, then after a while some uptop which i sorted.
worst bit now is where bird $hit was on it, it ate the paint, and i flated it out, and stoppered it, which is fine, the primer is reacting on the old red, but not all over, ive had it before on the bumper, and even a little bit on bonnet, its strange mate, its got to be the primer, cant think of anything else, but what ever it is its pi$$ing me off.
i will get it sorted though, ive got over it before, and be damned if its gunna bet me
i might just get that std xr/rs bumper preped and ready just in case though

right, good news, went out to the workshop again today, wasnt out there long due to having to get a lift to and from it now my run around has gone.
anyway, i got rid of the reacting primer, all i done was wet flated it with some 600 lightly, dryed it, warmed the area witht he hair dryer and just primed it again, give light coats and rought drying each coat and it cam out fine which was good.
had a couple of little area than needed some stopping, and another couple os areas that reacted to the primer, so once it was dry i done the same as above and it was fine, but most time was wasted due to wating for things to dry etc, but i had to make up some bonnet spacers for jonboisxr2i, so done them in between.
there was some bits i could do on the car, but it would of been getting my hands dirty, and i didnt fancy slight oil/greasy hands when touching a bumper im preping for spraying so today was lost really but the bumpe ris finished and ready for paint, if i had had more time i would of painted it, well half as its done in 2 parts due to the black splitter.
anyway, for anyone who hasnt got bored and fcuked off, a few pics of the bumper, the last time you will see it in this state
also, i have a new passanger rear arch, well, s/h, needs studding again, and painting, i havent picked it up or even seen it yet but mine has gone a bit funny in 1 place due to not being located right in the stainless clip, im sure it will right it self when i re fit it, but i'll get the spare arch and stud it out and prep it anyway.
if when i fit mine back on it doesnt sort it self out, ill paint up the spare one and fit that one, for the sake of a fiver, i cant let it pass like the one at ford fair

yeah i know, most of its covered with black plastic thats got paint on, but some stuff has got over spray on it, even the wall in the next room has red on it from then the insides of the doors were hung and painted
the floor in the garage is red-ish, and so is just outside the garage
dunno what my uncles gunna say though, dont think he will care tbh, but he wont be over the isle of wight for a while now though as he had a stroke about a month ago and is still in hospital, although getting better really fast which is good, but seeing as he lives on mainland i cant see him coming over till next year, by which time i hope most has worn away

only a very small update, i havent done anything to the car really but ive get some more bits and bobs together.
got the grear knob from national day for £2, ok its not best condition but it goes with the silver bits of the dash i got and for 2 bucks it dont matter, it will be changed for a mint one when i find a mint steering wheels or get one of the spares i have re covered.
these came from a mate, who er, got them from work , i owe ya one dude
i picked this up today for a tenner from another mate, i will not be refurbing this one as it will be a spare, but i might refurb it in the winter or something but for now it stays as it is
when out at the car the other day i was a bit fcuked off to find the paint starting to flake on the gearbox, i mean come on i havent even driven the fcuking thing
to me its roughter than a rought bird at a ugly party
and the other night i decided to sort all my receipts out, they range from 1998 to 2007, starting on the sofa and working there way round, it may not look like it but theres over £10k's worth there and that dont inc what i paid for the car!
biggest one was about £823 from fiesta centre for avo coil overs and rear disc conversion
i dont want to, but i am gunna ad them all up, and put them all in a proper folder
and finaly, i will be the owner of one of these next week, so let the compounding and polishing begin.
thats about it, nothing major i know

i dont want to but i have to, just so i know
thing is i used to keep her in top form all the time, it slipped a bit when kids cam along as it wasnt being used as much and money wasnt as free as it used to be, i i remember changing bake pads that were only half worn on more than 1 occasion, and ball joints just before mots that wasnt even naffed , and 2 oil changes a year when i would do 5k tops per year
i will add them up, and i will post up the amount, as i say i dont wanna do it, but i gotta, plus i need a amount incease i have to put it when i get agreed value on the car

cheers dude.
easier said than done, but, there is a reason for it, in a couple of weeks i should have some money, fingers crossed enough for tyres for the 16's, mot, tax, extra for the insurance and enough to get all the little bits needed still from fords etc.
once i got some time ill have the money, then it will be on road, this year, and thats a promis

No worries mate,
I know what its like when your restoring mate, sometimes you hit a brickwall and the project has to take a back seat for a while whilst funds, time build up

Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild (56K, NO NO) small update 30/9
well, no updates for a while as i havent touched it, mainly due to not having time, which is a bit of a bummer as i wanted it done by now but still, its been this longer so whats another month or 3
anyway, went to fords the other day and came out £52 and not happy after the parts guy informed me i could of opened a account and got discount right from when i started the rebuild c*nt!
anyway parts i got
screws for the bonnet vents
woodufft key for crank, dont need it but never know eh
woodufft keys for cam, pack of 5 only again dont need them but hey
2 rubber bump stops for boor lid
new rear washer jet
foam bump stops for bonnet, they sit on wing up near scuttle, pack of 5 only again
2 new door weather strips, £30 plus post on ebay, stick that, £6.99 plus vat from fords each
the seal protectors (kick trims) £7.30 plus vat each of you dont mind
and if anyone wants to maintain ford do in fact make there own parts not out side companies (like ive said) heres proof, 2 kick trims, made by 2 different compaines and not 1 is fords , go on, argue that

Don't think we will convert him Chris
Good work mate, Don't do what I did with the kick trims which was to fit them wrong
The bottoms of them go under the bodykit, when I fitted mine I put them slightly to high
so theres a small gap, which most people it wouldn't bother,
but I've been losing sleep over it
I renewed my vent screws washers also @ 22p each
The new weather strips are better than the originals because they have no metal in them
so won't corrode like the originals do.
Ford parts departments love us, I'm sure they just think of a number sometimes
Cheers

my vents dont have washers and never have.
you will never convert me and the weather strips do have alloy in them still, they were only made last year too as theres a date printed on them
no fear about the kick trims, i got it in hand about them, for some reason they look different to me though, might just be as i havent really looked at a fiesta for a while
anyway, how can ya put the strips on wrong when they got a arrow pointing in the direction they need to be

I put my kick strips in to high up, as I say the bottom of them
are meant to be under the side skirts
The weather strips I bought are all plastic, you must have "old stock"
Cheers

Na, these ones go on the top of the doors on the outside,
where it meets the window glass.
The ones you are on about are the roof strips, they cover the roof rack fixings
They are about £22 iirc
