Re: fiesta rs turbo rebuild, more new bits, bargin!
, i aint moving that lot again thats for sure! too much of it, would need a couple lorries to move all the engineering stuff i got, plus the workshop have the 3 phase already
the xr2 is still mobile, tbh, i could tart the rear arches up and it would pass a mot i know that much
anyhow, cant be doing with getting the xr2 on the road at mo, sorting the little bits on the rs wont take long, and the work on the rs can be done over winter if needbe.

Re: fiesta rs turbo, getting it ready for ford fair
only update is work being done for fordfair.
those that have followed would know of the mishap which saw my front bumper getting cracked , well due to a poor choice back in 1999 when i first cut the grill part off the cossie bumper on how i fixed it i have never been happy with it and it has cracked before due to being hit, so a long awaited proper fix is what was needed, so what do you do when you have a 2-3 inch crack in the bumper.....................
cut a whole bit out and start again
plus it has given me chance to do what i have been wanting to do for a while and make the top better, it wont show tbh, but i done it for a mate on his cossie bumper years back and it looed better to me, so to "finish it off" im my eyes im doing a bit more to it than whats "needed"
this fiber glass thats been used, to give you a idea of how strong it is, when i built wind turbin blades, 1 layer of it was used on the outside of the blade, and 1 layer on the inside, this part of the bumper, has 4 layers! that c*nt aint cracking again!
the splitter part of it was damaged when they stupid bint tried to run me off the road, and the gel coat did crack as i thought it would so i drilled and cut it out and re done that
will get this finished off tomorrow ready for paint, but im preping a rear bumper for paint too after this one so might not be painted will saturday

well front bumper is done, well, near enough, just needs the primer feathering out and the bumper flatted for paint.
rear bumper is to be preped, well jons old one as i couldnt be assed removing my old one , but i have removed the green strip from the bumper this time, and thats preped with new tape ready and waiting
boring pic's i know but still
i hate paint reaction

Re: fiesta rs turbo, getting it ready for ford fair
i've thought about it, and tbh if the cossie one gets damaged again where it will need both black and red done, the chance of it going back to the standard bumper is very high if im honest as ive repaired and re-painted this cossie bumper a number of times now and tbh im getting fed up doing it, BUT, i have repaired it right this time round, something i should of done ages ago really so it shouldnt need any repair again for some time, well to the red part anyway.
i do have a standard bumper, but it needs a fair bit of work to be ready for paint as who ever painted it last must of used a wet rag to rub it down as the paint hasnt stuck very well at all
was hoping to post pictures of the finished bumpers today but it hasnt happened, spent ages digging out the space heater, finiding a bottle for it, only to fit the fitting was wrong, found one that was broken, modded it to fit, all well and go and.......
space heater wont light
dunno if it due to gas pressure being low or if its the electronic gas valve or what, but half a day wasted on all that i wasnt in the best mood to fcuk about on it anymore, and thw workshop was too cold to paint, so took extra time masking up and sorting things out ready for tomorrow.
i have a calorgas fire which im gunna use to heat in the workshop, and before anyone says anything, no it wont be lite when im painting its being used to warm the workshop before painting then its switched off and rolled outside.
i have extra fast harderner so it should be touch dry within 10 mins with some luck, so provided the workshop stays nice and warm for about half hour its all good
fingers crossed i have no paint reaction, no runs and enough paint
1 downside so far, after this weekend and this coming week, i then do my week on standby for work (24th-30th) meaning i might have to leave the key mark in the bonnet and the slight kurbing on the passanger alloy
i dont want to rush compounding the bonnet and risk fcuking it up as i will have no time to sort it out.
i even have to get the car MOTed before ford fair as the MOT runs out on the 2nd but i know it will fly through once i adjust the handbrake cable as ive not even done 600 miles since the last MOT
anyhow thats it for doday for my blog on the rs
roger, over and out

i dont need another cossie bumper although someone near me has one for sale for a tenner with a crack and im tempted as a spare
bumpers are painted, only thing that i didnt like was a hair that stuck on the front bumper its deffo not one of mine as i have none and my dad has less than me so it must be one from a paint brush, not sure where it came from but im not happy about it, but $hit happens and it will have to stay there
oh, and we found today that the gauge on the compressor is faulty, its running 100 psi, not the 60 psi it was reading, that would explain the problem we have had with painting in the past, and why the engine bay came out great first time, i.e was using a different compressor for that
ah well, no matter, live and learn eh
