I took me ages to find your stand, i walked past that area twice too!! but i was looking for the banners

I found it eventually but only Ash and his mate were about. Then when i wandered over later in the day i only spoke to jony and then left

jayrs :got any pictures of the airtec rad fitted mate? and how much was it out of intrest?

yeah the lack of banners was a bit strange, im unsure if anyone had them or if it was a case of no one could be bothered to put them up?? which ever though it was a bit of a slap in the face considering forum members chipped in for them if i remember right, but its done now, but yeah to hear that matey say that did confirm what i thought about the spot, there was some great cars around but everyone seemed to pass without a blind bit of notice so if i can, i think i'll try for another stand next year.

how did you or how would i, go about getting on the show and shine stand?

Here's a link for the one im using jay http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/S2-RS- ... t-579.html iv also fitted two 12volt slim line fans to this just to aide airflow cos as you no there ant much room in the bay, as you'll see these are really designed to be fitted in the intercooler space that's left when fitting a front mount intercooler but as im running a pace cooler in place of the standard item i just mounted the turbo cooler down by the bumper behind one of the vents in my splitter. i'll try and get some pic's..
They do make one now pacifically for the FRST http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/Fiesta ... t-913.html but it's based on the same deign i.e fits in the standard intercooler space so would need abit of moding to fit else wear and its a £5er more for some reason?

As for getting in the concours area jay tis easy mate just go to the fordfair site, click on the concours at bottom of page, should get you to this http://www.fordfair.co.uk/concours.shtml and you can book from here, just like bookin ya tickets really, just make sure you enter the right category as one year i ended up competing with mk5 fezzers :-?

as some know,. ive had some problems with my rear brakes, the calipers, im not 100% sure if i shall change from this set up or not, but keeping options open, and because of this, i couldnt pass these up, a set of RS2k rear brakes for the bargin price of £40! and as you see them, is how i got them just 2 hours ago

Image
Image

so, i can now choose what i wanna go for, stick with what i got and get new calipers, fit the RS2k stuff and hope i dont need adjustable bias valves (as i dont need them with current set up) or go back to drums.
after my operation in september i shall spend a bit of time on the RS every now and then and will see what i wanna do.

if the RS2k stuff pushes wheel out towards arch and further than what i have now, they will not even be considered for the RS, time will tell

this is all

bad news.
half way home from ford fair the car started to sound like a scobbie, seemed to run ok though and i suspected a lead or a plug to be a bit iffy as it sounds a little funny but nothing major.
anyhow, the follwoing day, after getting out from hospital cos i had a vasectomy monday morning, half hour after getting home i swapped batterys etc and started the car up and it sounds a little rattley from the top end, due to being in a bit of pain i switched off, covered up and today nearly 2 weeks on ive been out to have a look.

exhaust lobe on No.3 is worn down :x :x cam hasnt even done 1200 miles and the fcuking things fcuking fcuked! and i aint fcuking happy! :x :x :x :x

tappets look to be ok, but the internal springs on some seem weak, so ill change them, so basicly, i need a new cam and new tappets :(
not impressed 1 little bit with kent cam, so all the kent stuff is coming off, cam, tappets and valve springs, they can all fcuk off, and standard stuff going back on, if that is i can get a standard camshaft still, and it doesnt cost me a fcuking fortune for one, other wise its gunna have to be a after market one, but i aint going for any fast road crap no more.
just hope it hasnt effected anything else, last time the cam wore out and ate the arse off a tappet it took a big end out, if its happened like that again, then its goodnight RS, she will be moved somewhere, covered up and prob left to rot untill such time as i can be arsed, and thats IF i can be arsed , thats how i fell right now.
and to think i was gunna save for a respray for it, fcuk it, had enough!

need a fag, been 6 hours, going to shop

over and out

Thats well s**t mate.
My workmate fitted a newman fast road to his mk4 XR3i and it was eating through tappets too. It got through 2 sets of pattern tappets and a set of genuine ford jobbies! All in the space of 6 months!

Go standard Ford mate, a mate of mine had a Kent, it was actually slower off the mark with the Kent fitted than the standard one!!

Standard is good up to 250bhp ish isn't it ?

not sure mate, all ill say is i never had a problem with my old standard one will it wore out, and it worked out cheaper to get kent than standard.

im even tempted to take out the chip, bieges etc
mind you the way im feeling im tempted to leave the garage locked and not bother go back in there :(
tax is gunna be cashed in too this month.

well got a response from c unt this morning, sorry i ment kent, got a reply from kent!
i have to send the cam, followers and valve springs back to them for inspection, this will be at my cost, and tbh, i think i got more chance or being given a brand new focus RS than i have kent admitting something is wrong with cam and giving me a new one as there no dough blaim me for it, but how i dunno on a fully rebuilt engine :-? but im sure there come up with something, but were see how it goes, worst case it cost me some pennies to send it away, why not, fcuking thing cost me £250 so far whats a another few quid eh

deffo cashing tax in, and deffo buying the standard cam from clark, have to cash tax in to get enough cash to buy the cam from clark so shes not seeing the road again till next year i reckon.

not bad really when you think about it, garage rent £7.59 a week, years insurance fully comp at £325 or something plus £40 DD fee's, fresh MOT at £35, agreed value £15, key cover £14, forfair trip = tax £112, ferry £39 fuel £4, get tyre bead re-sealed £17.50 , new cam, belt, oil and filter say £160

not bad for what, 300 miles this year

hang on, why do i find that funny :oooh: :(

i wont be getting another thats for sure, if kent do replace it then i will sell it on.
i got a standard one lined up now, mainly cos i just dont have the money for another one like piper, but if the standard one goes again then a piper one will be next to go in.
i did look at the piper kits, £350 or there abouts, just cant afford that right now.

i dont recall that post about the kent cams, will have to do a search for it when i get back in.
will be intresting to see what kent say, im sure they will pass the buck, but were see.
i offered copies of MOT cets, which will show less than 1K milage since i got it, but they dont want them just yet, fingres crossed they replace it, but as said, i wont hold me breath

ive looked at the newman site, and tbh it seems a little expensive tbh and ive heard a couple bad things about them.
that said i did hear some bad things about pipe years ago, 6 of one half dozon of the other you know.
still, i think i will give a pipe one a try next time, but for now ill bung standard ford one in as thats what i can afford now, and tbh, i dont rag it about so the high bhp set up i planned at the start of the build isnt being used so dont see the point of a higher lift cam no more

must be getting old

Hi jay sorry to here about your cam probs  will be very interesting to hear what Kent's response is to this as i run Kent in mine, which has done 4.5k so far!..

I do recall that there is a specific running in procedure and special lube to be used when fitting these cams or they will wear out prematurely not saying you didn't do this jay but this maybe something Kent will throw at you as a reson why :-?

Did you say that the engine had eaten a standard cam before this one?

yeah they will throw something back at me im sure, it was brand new so used the cam lube and all that, although i didnt fancy starting the car and revving it over 1500 for half hour on its very first start up lol.

yeah, the old cam ate the bottom of a tappet and wore the lobe down, on the same one if i remember right, bit strange, but there is no reason why it done it then or now :-?

Yeah i know what you mean i was in the same position jay brand new engine and have to rev it at 2000rpm for several minutes at frist start up was very daunting, i spoke with the guys at Kent with my concerns for doing this, they said it was vital that this was done or the cam will not bed in correctly and fail prematurely. so i done it and all seemed fine..

Id be abit concerned as well jay if this was the second cam that the engine has eaten with no reson why :-?
although the good old CVH has always had abit of a rep for top end's being abit weak and wearing out..

yeah jon was saying tonight about that one, ill send mine back to kent themself and i will call every week untill i get a answer, although as ive said , its not gunna be in my favour.

ford prob still got them listed, but if you try order one they no longer serviced, remember, the parts guys at prems are crap! apart from jack, the youngers ones, pure dog $hit
i wouldnt pay ford £47 for each follower considering there motor craft or powertrain made in ford boxes, when you can get power train ones from partco (or used to) for about £45 a set

how dos mate.
car wouldnt of been used even if the came wasnt naffed tbh, but still, she will be back soon, but the engine will come out for a full strip down and clean though, and yes the wheels are still on there, there stay untill the xr2 is done, then i will decide what car looks better with them on.
