fiesta rs turbo, updated, 29/03/16
paradox :looking forward to seeing the pics of your bay once its painted mate
oh and i collected my rs turbo engine today so i should have some more fancy painted pics to share soon and probably a few questions to ask you
im looking forward to having it done so i can get on with it, its been off the road since jan and its taking its time, but then again trying to do this sort of thing outside will take time.
advice to anyone wanting to do theres, do it inside hate to think how many hours have been wasted moving stuff about in and out of the car, getting the tools out, putting the tools back, clearing up etc, at least with a garage if i thought, fock it, thats it im going home, i could down tools, shut door and go, not wast 30 mins putting everything away
anyhow weather is ment to be really good for a while now and they gave me fast thinners and extra fast hardner with the paint, so really i could paint in the morning and fit stuff back after lunch bit ill leave it a day or so.

right gotta be due for a update seeing as ive been offline for a bit.
tbh not a great deal has been done as most of the time its been f ucking raining but still theres a bit thats been done.
so far.
rear axle, shocks and hubs are on.
fuel lines and brake lines are back on
the fuel tank is back on
the front box section was given a going over as it was covered in surface rust so that was ground off and flated and preped as were both front inner arches, the front box section and both front inner archers were then stone chipped.
the engine bay was stripped, cleaned, rubbed down, then the bay and the inner arches were primed and top coated and i gave it all a fair bit, the 1/4 litre matey said would be ok didnt go far so another 1/2 liter was got and i used the focking lot! so thats done.
the front lower valance panle hasnt been fitted yet but i want to pait the whole of the box section to protect it so that was done and at the same time both sides of the front lower valance was painted, i know the outside bit will need doding again but thepaint was in the gun so it got a good coat to start if off, but it was primed the same time as the bay
i also painted the bulk head panle as it was looking a bit faded
anyhow i left it for a couple of days after it was painted and i will be tomorrow painting the servo, brake bar and brackets front brake lines etc and once there dry there be going in and im waiting for a new throttle cable (as after 15 years the old ones prob streched a bit) and some loom clips to arrive and them the engine can go in, well i got to build it yet, it would of been done by now but having no place to store it apart from in the garden doesnt really do it for me tbh
some pics so far, sorry for being small they were done with my mobile.
oh the hydrovain compressor broke down and my dad wasnt happy so we had to dig his old one out and use that, apart from being nosiy it still worked a treat.
some pic's so far.

cheers guys, yeah very busy between the rain.
and as for the painting the bay, i think it came out very well considering its the first time ive sprayed a engine bay, and tbh it will prob be the f ucking last!
still priming it wasnt bad but my dad painted it first time round when we ran out of paint so after a couple of days i flated it back down again and this time i decided i would give it a go, 1/4 litre paint (more once mixed) didnt seem to go far but 1/2 litre of paint (more once mixed) didnt seem to run out so the bay has a few coats on it, just hope i dont knock it and chip it when the engine goes back i but i got some unmixed paint left over to touch up's as its bound to get knocked knowing my luck

painted a load more bits up, servo inc, and what a pain that was, first off it must of had aspots of grease or somethingon, even after wiping it off with thinners, then i tried hammeright due to it not having it, that didnt flow smooth so it got flatted down again, wiped ove and primed just for the primer to react on traces of hammerite still on it
still not wanting to be beaten i flatted it back to bare meatl on the front face and this time after wiping with thinners again it went ok.
my own fault really, if i had spent just a little bit longer in the first place preping it it would of been ok but no matter, so far its the only thing that hasnt gone my way paint side of things, oh apart from the bay and lack of paint first time round
the pic of the flatted servo was before i flated it back to complete bare metal but i couldn't be assed getting a pic as i was pi$$ed off by then ans it was 9.45 last night
just got to paint the brake bar now.

paradox :looking good jay it seems your painting most of the parts i am apart from ive had mine bead blasted first which helps loads with the prepping for paint
my mate quit his job so i cant get stuff blasted anymore, which is a bummer still no matter i got on ok with the flatting down, thinner etc etc
and im thinking of taking the rear axle off again and keying it up and stone chipping it as its only got hammerite on it and im not keen on hammerite as it is

nothing much this week as i been sorting kids room and our room as got a new baby on the way and she will be here in as little as 7 weeks now so i gotta get my car on the road by then or its gunna have to wait
any how, went down fords yesterday afternoon and ordered some bits, i was gunna get about 20 loom clips for the engine bay but nearly give birth my self when i was told there £1.35 each
and there only small
so sod that, ill look round the scrappy for ones i can get, as i can think of other things to spend £27 on.
right, bits from fords i got,
new throttle cable
2 new bushes for the brake bar
new spring for the brake bar
new bush for brake pedal. this bush sits btween the pedal and the clip
got the new cable due to the fact that over the years its prob streched a bit ply the rubber seal (when in bulk head) split a little so prob wont sit flush.
new brake bar bushes, were got cos i couldnt be assed cleaning the old ones, there prob worn, and they didnt cost even £2.50 for the pair inc vat!
spring has prob got a little slack by now, and for £1.35 inc vat, well ya might as well.
and thr predal bush as ive prob lost mine by now
you can see the old bushes and spring in the top right.
will put part numbers up in a min for anyone that might want them

you knows dis
part numbers
throttle cable, FRST 1664712
brake bar spring 6686486
brake bar bush (white one, 40x23mm) 6172533
brake bar bush (black one, 33x16mm) 6201601
brake bar push rod bush 6081249
the sizes given for the brake bar bushes refers to the lenth of them ( 40 and 33mm)
and the 23 and 16mm is the internal lenth of the bits the metal bar rub on, the extrenal steped parts and diameter DONT come in to the sizing, so if ya ford man say he dunno whats what you can tell him.
