in 1st and 2nd it has a bit of a flat spot, seems like it dont want to rev, once im in 3rd, 4th, 5th it revs strong and fine. any idea why this is? i find it strange.

ill be changing, filter, plugs,leads the weekend

When was the fuel filter last changed as these are often overlooked. Get a faultcode reader wired up to the car and ensure there are no sensors or anything at fault.
