Phone up someone like HIC and ask them. It IS different for everyone!
You'll need to be specific about the car the engine was out of (at least I had to be). I got a quote of about £600 with an engine from a 1994 Mondeo 2.0 LX or something like that (can't remember exactly), and that was at 24 years old, with 3 years no claims bonus and 1 fault claim. I never looked into the specifics of which Mondeos had the cheapest insurance groups though, so it could have been cheaper most likely.
As it stands now though, I ended up using an Orion LX 1.8 engine which was much cheaper on the insurance And is still a lot of fun

Just to add. The Orion engine I'm using is from an insurance group 9 car, and 2.0 Mondeos that are also insurance group 9 do exist, however whether these are Series 2 or Series 3 engines, I'm not sure.
So it could potentially be as cheap for me to insure a 2.0 for the same cost, which is around £400. Not bad at all for a rapid combination of car

Im 21 and have 3 years no claims and im paying £700 third party fire and theft on my 2.0litre all mods declared with HIC. Took a while to actually find someone to insure me as even the modified places i called were saying "sorry we dont insure engine conversions like that"
Im happy with the price though and they have been helpful on a few things when i call to check if future mods will alter the price/policy.

Im with Redline who do it through cis, or hic, or something, like that. IM 21, 4yrs no claims and 0 accidents and points. With all mods declaired, paying monthly, protected no claims and £3000 audio cover, I'm paying just under £1000.
Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.
