fiesta st170 turbo
Re: fiesta st170 turbo
Excursion :crazycage :robp-tt :its coming along well gary, isnt there any room to have the rad where it normaly goes and move every thing foward more and chop the bumper out?
yes i have loads of room there but i didnt want to put it there. wanted to do somthing differernt from the norm.
plus moving it over will help with water temps and also act's as the rad wont be heating the intercooler and the intercooler wont be obstructing the rad plus it will counter balance having the oil tank for the dry sump in the other front corner
I think that'll be way too small mate. In terms of doubling up, the max efficiency is within the first 30mm and beyond that it falls off rapidly as the air looses speed and is heated by the fins. Can you get the same rad on the opposite side?
yes i could fit the same in on the other side but for now i will be keeping as it is and will come back to it if its a problem
i have ran with a escort rs turbo rad for years with no cooling problems and that was obstructed by my 50mm core intercooler , and the rad core on that was 300x500 .i think it will be fine but if its not i will address it at the time

Re: fiesta st170 turbo
Nice work Gary.
Putting mine on the dyno this weekend or next.I'll let you know how the inlet performs
Btw where are you putting the screen wash bottle? Just had to move mine for a screamer pipe.
I was thinking the boot as its the only place with space
If you make a nice screen wash tank to go somewhere let me know I'll be interested in one.
Keep up the good work. Looks very different and far from any other Zt engine bay if that's the look your going for.

that welding on that stuff your doing looks very agricultural you sure you know what your doing and is it good enough to withstand the boost it's designed for but i suppose as it's just a garage orniment there's not much to really worry about and my cvh inlet would wipe the floor with all those shiny bits of twisted metal your making i'll sell you one cheap for you to try and once you've dyno'd them back to back you'll be in AWE of my skills

Re: fiesta st170 turbo
why dont you run the washer bottle off a classic mini on 1993 plate
would fit under the scuttle pannel or better yet fit it in the boot and run one hose to front

sorry didn't mean to upset anyone on here as gary said a personal joke between us to do with people insulting his work which is always top notch, here's a quick picture of what he's built so far on mine, if you look at header tank you'll notice what happens when your head gasket lets go at 2.5 bar racing a evo which left us stranded in manchester one evening while we were mapping

Re: fiesta st170 turbo
update time , not done a lot on the car over the last few weeks mostly due me just getting back off a two week holiday in alcudia yesterday
with me cutting most of the front end off the part of the front panel that holds the head lights was rather floppy lol so that was my first job today
so with that done i need to fab up the intercooler and mount it .the one in the pic is still ricks one i havent finished but mine is here so i will start that tomorrow, i tapped some 3" elbows together to moch the top boost pipe up. im going 3" on the outlet on the cooler because the throttle body is 3". the inlet on the cooler will be the same size as the outlet on the turbo.
now the front end is almost there i need to get on the oil tank for the dry sump so more to come soon.
