Postby RSdan123 on Tue Jan 13, 2009 12:12 am

Hi every one i have just brought some FOCUS RS Brembo calipers + ST170 discs, i want to put them on my fiesta turbo but before i start pulling it to pieces can anyone tell me if i need a bracket made or can i just drill and space them.
also can i use my fiesta brake hoses or do i have to get custom ones made.
and help on this would be great

Many thanks

Danny

hose's --- on the caliper end you need a banjo not sure if you can get away with using FRS braided hoses, as for the brackets think i might just make my own......
check this out some good pics

IIRC the calliper is to big to go with 300 mm discs. you need the 330mm discs. You have to grind a chunk out of the calliper to get it lowenough to fit with these discs.

http://www.mda-motorsport.co.uk/

Speak to a lad called mat from there hes made a set of brackets for me.

just some pics so you can see how much needs griding out and of the bracket.

The callipers wont fit behind mondys. I had both lying in the garage one day so tried to see if they would fit. But the calliper was hitting the spokes and would need spacing out way to much.

St170 brakes are the best bet mate. Or mk3 mondeo v6 calipers and st170 discs is the same setup but cheaper.

there is a lad on here saying he used the 300mm disc post number 97
i wanted 4 pots really, i already have puma racing/rs2000 280mm brakes but they just dont do the job + brembos look the dogs.

how thick are the ST170 discs ?
going by the stupid price of RS brembos, i was gonna make up a big brake kit using 300zx/skyline calipers

If st discs are the right thickness, this could be a possibilty :)

Specs of the 300zx disc 280mm x 30mm vented, PCD 4 x 114.3
300zx use the Z32 calipers

yes they use 4 pots, the later 300zx and skyline calipers are alloy, the early ones are iron and really heavy :o

Its a pity the discs are so thin, but i may still design a big brake kit if their are enough people interested :)
Use a set of 4 pots and a range of disc sizes

use pug 406 coupe discs, same pcd, slightly larger centre pore but can get spigot rings for a fiver, and brakcets need making up for them anyway, so account for any difference in offset :) 305mm diameter

305mm will be very close, think you max disc size you can fit behind a 16" is 308mm and that might be a compomotive style alloy. :-? guess it will be a case of trial and error!

they should fit ok. spigot rings are avaiable off ebay, the coupe discs are 66mm the ford are 63.4 iirc. and again the offest wil be off, but the brackets for the calipers will take up andy difference :)

there are some universal ones, but if you do a search the company on ebay does custom ones for the same price.
all you do is tell them the sizes and they will make them up

ask for a 66mm outside dia, and 63.4 internal dia, that allows the discs to cetralise on the hubs :)
