Misses got bored so decided to add comment to the white board
Then got even more bored helping and thought it would be funny to make a glove man...
Now comes all the bits i have ammassed to put on the car as it is being changed and rebuilt
Now for the test fitting of the engine and box together.

bit of an update as i aint done one in months!
right well my clutch idea had to go out of the window due to the idea of getting the plate splines changed not being cost effective and the idea of getting the same plate made with diff splines not going to work i have had to rethink alot of things hence the delay.
i have now gone for an aluminium billet focus flywheel which weighs next to nothing and have got a helix group N spec zetec 6 paddle clutch kit on order.
the chassis leg of the car has been cut and will need a little more work for it to completely clear the box as i wish it to but the main problem i am now facing is mounting the box in the car!
the way i wanted it to mount was using the std cradle and have custom mounts made up to fit to vibratech mounts but that is not going to work as the gearbox lowest point is over an inch lower and fouls the cradle and stops it from fitting to the car.
have also got myself a rover inlet to chop up and see if my ideas on that will work as a low cost option!
so its now full steam ahead getting it ready for ford fair, will try get some pics up later if i can get any.

Re: new pics plus mtx75 gearbox - update 10/11 new bonnet pins
Well seeing as i havent touched the car in months i thought i better look at it again.....
mate rang me up this morn and asked could i take him to pick up a bonnet that he was going to cut up, he was after a cav or escort as he wanted the metal for welding his astra GTE up and would be given a bent bonnet so had to go and pick it up ='s very cheap metal to weld with.
so after a bit of thought i managed to get him to look for a slightly bent bonet from a fiesta so i could test fit my new bonet pins that have been sitting on top of my desk for months and if it cost a few £ then i would pay for it to save hacking up my scooby vented bonnet and then realising they wouldnt fit right and ruining a very good bonnet that cost a fair few pound to have done!
These are the pins i have had for a while,
Aerocatch locakble ones so that i can completely remove all traces of the bonnet latch from my slam pannel when i make the removable item and not worry about them comming open while moving or some lowlife being able to get in my bonnet.
so set about randomly hacking at the slightly dented bonnet and these are the results, perfect for where i want them so will be getting the body shop to fit them in my bonnet so if they make the hole to big it's their fault!
what do people think over these

Aero catches are definitely a far neater solution, plus have that added bonus of a bit more security - possibly even more security than the standard assembly!

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 14/11 page 2
quick update.....
the rover inlet manifold has arrived and has been test fitted (only roughly) and am now finding the best priced manifold adaptor plate so that it can be bolted on and all the modifications planned so that it can be powder coated after i get the gearbox mounts done for the mtx.
Didnt get any pictures as there wasnt anything to show really, but will look million times better with the RS1600i rocker cover than the std inlet.

Am not doing the chassis work myself am getting it done for me..... Hopefully by the legend that is scort (still trying to "make" a mate tow a trailer that far!).
Just trying to arrange getting the other bits that need doing while i am off work so that the engine can be dropped in and off to go!
will get pics up tho of each step of the way as and when things are done!

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 12/12 page 2
spent an hr this morning cutting up the bulkhead of a mk4 fiesta to get a plate that i can weld in so that i dont have to make my own mounting for the clutch cylinder on the peddle box.
This is what i came back with
To fill this hole up
Was going to have a look at welding it this evening but its too bloody cold as i dont have heating or electric in the garage so this will have to do as an update, might be able to get it done tomorrow if it warms up slightly!

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 12/12 page 2
had a bit of time to have a look at the small matter of the hole in the bulkhead where the clutch cable used to come through so set about welding the part of the mk5 i got from the scrapyard mid December now the weather has got a bit warmer and the sun was shinning this afternoon.
Not my best bit of welding but for some reason i cant take to this welder i have, just cant get a lot of decent tidy welds from it.... I think it doesnt help that the wire is slightly rusty in places which is causing drag in the sleeve to the gun (have replaced the origional plastic one on it with a metal sieve and new tip
which has slightly helped but its still not right).
Anyways here are the pics of the small update....
I even managed to get a quick coat of primer from a rattle can on it to stop any rust forming on the welds!
Like i said above, its not my best welding ever but it should be pretty well covered anyways so not too bad, can always give it a quick skim of filler or cover them in seam sealer.

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 9/2 page 2
managed to do a little more on it today, finished of plating the area around the clutch as the plate i got wasnt quite the correct shape around where the water pipes for the mk3 heater matrix went, as i am using a mk5 dash and heater matrix this needed covering.
As i had the welder out i decided it would be an ideal time to plate over the hole where the fiesta gear linkage goes through the floor, unfortunatly while i was peeling the carpet back after taking the seats out i found some small patches of rust on the drivers side inner arch (common problem) so cut it all right back and plated that as well.
Again not the prettiest job but its going to be covered so im not that bothered, really think that the poor welding is down to the wire and not me as penetration is great its just not doing it tidy, it seems like it wont flow right if you get what i mean!
Anyways as i am doing a quaick update i better put a couple of pics up as well!
small plate!

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 11/2 page 2
Only a small update today but an update none the less, this is actually starting to take shape and look like it will be a fiesta again soon.
Today i was in town going to docs etc and thought while i was there i would pop into halfords to see if the do paintable seam sealer, they do, but only in BIG tins!
So anyways i was relieved of £13 for the pleasure so came home and in the spare hr i had i applied a bit to the area of the bulkhead i have modified for the mk4 peddle box.
The seam sealer has made it look alot neater, am going to give it another thin coat to make it a bit more smooth tomorrow after this lot has properly cured and then can give it another thin coat of primer.
anyways here is a quick pic of before and after.

even with the new found enthusiasm i think FITP will unfortunatly be pushing both my time and money budgets a ittle too close for comfort!
i am trying my best to arrange to make sure it will all be done but at end of the day the money is boss!

Re: Fiesta turbo MTX75 conversion - update 12/2 page 2
not best please tonight, all in all had a really crap eve!
First i will go one about everything else but the car..... I put £10 worth of derv in the daily driver, drove out of the filling station only to find that the needle didnt move, went back and asked had they had a prob as i know my gauge is 100% working got told basically to get lost so had to put another £10 in (am going to be ringing shell customer services as aint happy!) Then i ordered a load of parcels to be collected only for it to crash and have to spend another 15mins doing it again
But to cap it all i have done a test fit of the mtx75 gearbox with the focus black top and found that they physically wont fit into the fiesta engine bay, i have cut a chunk out of the one leg to make it a few mm wider but it still is slightly too narrow - SQAURE PEG ROUND HOLE SITUATION!
so not sure what to do, as it is the water pump pulley bolts that fowl the chassis leg but if i went electric pump the aux belt would prob rub on chassis leg... so having a think on that! im defo not going to give up tho as i am defo having a zetec turbo out of this engine in this fiesta!
these show how tight everything is tho!

I think you just need to step back from it and go pound some brews.
Should just require a bit of cutting and strengthening on the chassis leg?
