Fiesta XR2i Resto!!

Postby Abbott10 on Sat May 21, 2011 8:40 pm

Alright Fella's

well last summer I brought an 1990 XR2i, as a project whilst i am training to be a mechanic. the car dint look in too bad shpae until i removed the body kit. Then there it was the horrid rust haha.
after debating weather to scrap, reshell or restore. I decide to restore and keep this classic on the road. However I have only just turned 18 so dont have masses of experience but here's my thread towards restoring my XR2i.
I am going for a standerd car with my own little touches. any help along the way would be priceless so let me know what you think.

now the car fully stripped.

the work i did today removed the drivers side front wing and prepped the chasis leg ready for stonechipping.

the second to last picture here shows how bad the rust on this car is but plan is to cut out and replace section.

Will update soon as i stonechip the inner arch

Please let me know what you think and any advice you can think of :aviator:

Damn, you've got some hours ahead of you there.

Have you got plenty of steel to make a jig? :D You'll end up unpicking the entire front end to get at all the seams, as a lot under the floor are multiple layers.
