Right you know the bit where the green stripe and the blue stripe goes on the front bumper. Yeah!? Can you fill this with just P38 filler or is there a special way of fillin it? Just don't want chunks of filler fallin out doin 100mph!!!

Cheers

as i work at vauxhall i asked the guys in the bodyshop what they thought of that idea recently - he said it would be bloody hard work getting it smooth etc - heat treatment would make it sink etc and would look dodgy

i will get him to smooth out the holes on the sides tho - he said he could do that no problem - i am pretty sure the 2i 16v came with this already done!!!! as i havnt seen any strips around the 16v one

Simonz bumper filler/repair kit, costs a fortune, is like p38 to work with, doesn't crack.

When I smoothed my XR2i rear bumper I removed the coloured insert stripe area and it is perfectly flat.

I used a pot of Loctite Plastic Padding Elastic. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Great to work with, very malleable (i.e. flexible  ) and can be sanded after 15 minutes. I used 400 grit Wet 'n' Dry just after I had actually filled it (about 15 minutes) this meant it was still slightly soft and even easier to sand.

The Plastic Padding Elastic is in a big yellow tub and will set you back about £8.

No fibreglass is necessary for removing the coloured insert but for any filling you have that does Loctite do Fibreglass paste which I reckon is much, much better than that horrid P40 stuff, P38's crap aswell
