First Install

Postby deej on Sat May 06, 2006 4:26 pm

Ive been looking at some things do to my first ICE install.

Headunit: Alpine CDE-9850Ri iPod Full Speed

Sub :
Vibe CBR10 Active

I dont know whether its best to go for an active sub or seperate amp and sub, so anyone that can give me some advice, please do.

im pretty set on that headunit as it has everything i want, and ive heard good things about Vibe.

Also what extra bits, if any, would i need to put it in my mk4.

thanks.

Alpine units have a very nice sound to them 8)

I would personally get a sub and amp seperate as when you upgrade stuff you can then buy a bigger amp for your sub and use the smaller amp to run a nice set of components up front :)

It really depends what you want and what your budget is.

Active subs are usually cheaper than a 2 seperate parts and if you want to upgrade to sell as a whole unit.

I would recommend vibe myself, I have been running my vibe subs for years now with no problems. They may not me as good as some of the best but they are still good quality and decent prices.

Il say around 200 quid for amp and sub.

I can probably stretch though.

So if you can go off somethin like that and give me some ideas.

Some recomendations on UKFN where:

Mostly hip-hop in the car.

Yes 200 includes wiring and the box for the sub, but as said before i can probably stretch a bit further, anything around 200-250 is great.

ta.

Tha power cable is shockingly small though, 10gauge is what I use to run the speakers...you need atleast 4 gauge otherwise when he goes to upgrade it will mean stripping all the wire out which is a mission trust me  I personally wouldnt go for a prefab box either as they wont be tailered to the subs specific T/S and will underperform

6*9's and a sub are pointless IMO, and if it rattles you need sound proofing mate
