yea thanks for the heads up on the heat, my fathers said simialr before

i know you aint trying to have a go, i could see you trying so hard not to come across as offensive bless ya :P

hopefully i can make something of this car and prove a few people wrong, but that may be too ambitious as you know a shed load more than i lol, but the paint job id doo will be 100% better than the arches i ground off it as it come lol, someone used this simialr green that werent even metallic, awful job, and the filler underneath had just bubbled

keep and eye on this mate, see how i do :)

ok update

this is probably useless but i like the attention to detail, and since it was off, who would i be not to have painted the beam?

pics
Image
Image

then done the springs too
Image

i got the arch covered in primer, to make a better contrast, making filling easier to spot the bad spots

Image

and then in filler
Image

also a pic of the turret covered in underseal, i will later paint this with hammerite, and then in the mint green once ive bought some of that

Image

will start sanding it back tomorrow, then followed by some priming

good man for painting the beam.

if thats underseal on the rear turret you will find that hard to paint over mate, if its oil based that is

wouldn't have bothered painting the beam myself, certainly not in a diff colour, that'll start falling off very quick and look worse than it did before imho.

you can scrape it off and wire brush it then clean it up with thinners.
if you want to put a thickish coat of something on you could stone chip it as thats over paintable

I know what you mean about it being something to do, I'm currently out of work and doing stuff on the car, anything, is better than sat there doing sod all so good luck with it, all i would say is don't do too much, try and look for jobs as well as working on the car in equal measures.

lol hair drier?

dean can you find out the postage please, fold them as much as you can and let me know the costs :) thanks

ha no worries jay, although some arch spats would be nice lol, could use them in the future

also i forgot to update two days ago of the current state of her

the beam is back on the car, think ive found something ont he suspension i prefere ont he mk4 lol, the top mounts for the struts, bit of a pig to get fitted properly, ended up having to remove the caps and fit them to the rubber bushes, then lift them both into the turret

anyway its back fitted now so not a worry :)

Image
Image

a little snag ive run into, is that one of the bolts to hold the hub on isnt going in, i think the threads bugegred on it, ive tried tapping it but nope, ill have to go to a scrappy to get some of them, i dont liek the idea of only having three studs on the hub, unless anyone knows what stud i can use to replace it with?

all for now, next i need to sand bakc the filler and give it some primer, and i think i found a small whole in the sill under the door, if so ill get it welded up

if not all the welding is done, i sorted the rust under the lower mount of the suspension and welded up the hole near the driver seat belt mount, both have been undercoated
