Its not much longer, but its still needless mileage, and I'd still prefer to go the more direct route that we have taken for 3+ years now with no problems
thanks anyway!

Re: FITP 2009 South East Convoy !!!!
Been thinking, is 7.30 a bit early to get to the venue?
this is the first time i have been in a convoy to get to the opening of a show so just thought i would put that out there. I also noticed the other southern convoy is gonna be getting there later?

Not really, remember its first come first served with regards to stand space - the earlier we arrive the better space on the stand we get - plus we always end up delayed at the stop-offs en-route and get there around 8. Its worked fine the past three years and this is the first time I plan to run in front, so bear with me guys

Re: FITP 2009 South East Convoy !!!!
Oi, bitches!
Just to let you know that I've been thinking (dangerous!!) and have a couple of thoughts on this convoy:
- I for one don't know everyone attending and I don't know what you look like. If you can, come over to the group and say hello so we know who you are - this makes it easier for all of us when its time to leave the next venue, let one of the group know if you're getting something to eat/going to the toilet/having a fag break etc so the convoy doesn't leave without you
- Because there will be a number of smaller engined cars, I suggest that the convoy speed limit will be 60-70mph, excluding the inevitable 50mph speed restrictions that are bound to be en-route.
- It would be helpful if you or a passenger have a sat nav or GPS enabled mobile in order to find directions should the convoy break up. If it doesn't, don't worry - stay close
- There are a number of traffic lights at junctions leaving and getting into the services. The convoy will not be taking any detours unless otherwise stated on the day so don't risk 3 points by jumping red lights - take it easy and get back on to the motorway where you'll be able to catch back up.
Sorry if they sound like rules - however I don't want too much responsibility being my first time organising a convoy.

Anyone's welcome however you won't get onto the stand, only onto the public display area - not sure on the admission charges.

Well why don't you? You can come round the top of the M25, onto the M11 and meet us at Birchanger Green services as per the first post

Nah, not really at all. At that time of the morning that stretch between Slough and the M11 will be empty. Just get to Birchanger Green services by the time stated in the first post and you'll be fine. It would probably be quicker for you too!

Your best going up the A1(M) to Brampton where the A14 crosses it. The show ground is not far from the roundabout there.

Re: FITP 2009 South East Convoy !!!!
A big thankyou to everyone who made this happen today, went extremely well - If I had known D.J had to stop I would have directed the convoy into the same service station lol.
No major incidents, no stupid driving so a big thanks
I hope in advance that EUFez + Thomas make it home OK, just heard from M1K3Y_B that the engine blew up just past sevenoaks :O.
