fitting a s2 radiator

Problem or technical question?

fitting a s2 radiator

Postby rsturbonutter on Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:30 pm

Have just purchased a escort rs s2 airtec radiator. I know I will have to mod my top hose but will a escort top hose fit. Would rather not cut and join if it does and just get one for an escort.
Cheers

The escort rad is a good 6 inch bigger so yes you would have to mod anay hose from the thermostat housing to the top hose on the rad but if u have afront mount i/c then the job is much easier

im drunk at the moment but will update with more usefull information at a later date lol lol

Ive not cut the top hose, ive put a very sort piece of hose from the thermostate to force the othere hose straight which leaves judt enough room for the boost pipe over the water hose and past the side of the rad, hope this helps

Thats cheap enough cant moan at a tenner, ive fitted a s2 rad because im running a 2.1 zvh and the normal cooling system just doesnt cut it when having abit of fun in it (if you get what i mean) just in meed of some decent fans now but i got given the rad and luckly got a front mount intercooler for £30

Can't get much hotter than the cvh
I'm just thinking logically the escort rad has got to be better because of the larger surface area. My car doesn't get hot really at all even when ragging it but I peirced my rad and thoughtif I am going to replace might as well improve somehow. I will find out in the next week or so if it is any benefical will be running twin fans as well

Just fitted the rad today because I was too impatient to wait for the swirl pot to arrive and I could of got away without one. It appears my rad is smaller than yours. Only pipe I had to extend was the water feed to the turbo by maybe an inch and half. Nevermind got a swirl pot coming now so might as well use it. My rad is only about 3 inches longer than A fiesta one.
