Right, i have heard about fitting bigger throttle bodies to inprove performance, what I need to know is how this works and what one would improve a 8v xr2i. Thanks peeps! :)

You could buy a set of throttle bodies for your engine (or any engine really) and it would give you a decent increase in power (expect to pay around £1,000 for a set of throttle bodies & manifold)..

You'd really need to sort out the head and a hotter cam, along with exhaust manifold upgrades to really benefit from the power.. I'd estimate that a set of proper throttle bodies on your engine, with say a mild road cam and a 'stage 1/2' head, you'd be looking at around 140bhp, maybe slightly more..

I know that on the 2.0 zetecs, with 45mm throttle bodies, pectel management system and some engine mods (head/lightened etc.) you can see 200bhp.. quite fun, but more bhp/less torque.. so lot's of high end rev work.. not ideal (for road)..

I know someone who made a XR4X4 2.9 throttle body ( the twin 40mm one ) fit onto a S1 inlet that was mashined up to take all the sensors and fuel injectors of the XR2I :o

Project ST2000 :S1 uses different inlet manifold altogether to the EFi 2i and FRSTs.

The S1 inlet was mashined up to fit the XR2i head, injectors and so on.
The S1 inlet was cut up and things were custom made.
