Tom:
If you fit big front brakes, ie cossies, you'll most likely need a bigger servo/master cylinder as you'll probably find the pedal will hit the floor before the brakes reach max stopping power. Mine certainly did.
In my investigations all mk5 rear beams are identical, I have measured thickness of steel and thickness and webbing, std late mk5 and Z-S mk5 are same.
You need to use a late mk5 rear beam (2000 on) to be able to bolt rear shocks on directly.

Re: [info/rough guide] fitting ZS beam & Focus rear disks
So what kinda cost are we looking at for the bits needed to do this?
Im still slightly confused about the handbrake cable, so i hve to get an xr3i one and then make it longer? can i use any other brakes on the back? What are the normal ones that come with the zs, are they drums? if discks, can those jsut be used?
Also, i have cossy brakes and they have been ok, but nowmy pedal goes to the floor. does anyone else get this? Apparantly my mot place dont like it and want to fail me for it, sujestions?

I think you have to switch hubs to the mk5 but i am not sure i have only seen the zs beam mounted with disks and calipers.
Also i would think about rolling the rear arches as some pepole with the zs beam have experianced a bit of rub on the rear arches on bumps and stuff.

good stuff i always liked the low wide look on the fez.
are you going to make your own arches or use aftermarket.
and i cannit see why it wouldnt handle better wider track and lower centre of gravity has to be an improvement lol.
