Easyer than that, attach a vacume pipe from the inlet manifold to the fuel regulator by the metering unit which give more fuel pressure and on over run you get nice big flames. I know this cos me mates done it and they look pukka

I just run 9% co and got the same effect

Fletch

I was runnin 18 psi in my 1600 and I didn't have a problem with fuel pressure and the CO was 9% @ full load. As far as I know there is a nipple at the back of the fuel pressure regulator that goes no where you plumb a pipe off the inlet manifold onto that and hey presto, don't expect to much MPG though. The other thing is don't take the feed off the pipe that goes to the ECU as you don't want to much runnin off it, cos if your like me I had the boost guage and dump valve off the same pipe !

I'll call Oz at Turbo Touch and see if I can find out a few more detials for you boys, I'm not promising though (he might have some Turbo Touch secrets that he don't want to let out)

Fletch

You can also get flames by turning off the engine while moving and pumping the accelerator. This gives you excess fuel and when yoiu turn the engine back on and accelerate it should flame. I know this cause i have a mate with an Escort cossie who does it and gets pretty good results. I assume its the same for an RST.

A lot cheaper way to try anyway!!

Thanks everybody, you just brightened up may day - I'm cry now I've read that (how pathetic...)

BTW, I rammed my Dad's work trailer 30 foot down a hill, into someone's drive and wrecked their lawn turning off the ignition one click too many at 30 mph - I do/did it so I could roll onto the drive nice & quiet like. I make a noisy, but safe, entrance these days.

Flames, a how to :-
What you need it a car that is chipped and is set-up to use fuel on the over run, (the fuel cools the pistons). Do not start sticking pipes onto the fuel regulator as this could up-set the fueling of the car and cause over-fueling which can damage valves etc......
You will also need a "flamer kit" from a certain Mike R which are £40.
When you have purchased flamer kit do this:-
buy a sparkplug, nut for sprakplug, ignition coil, HT lead, switch.
1) drill hole in tail pipe and weld appropriate size nut.
2) screw in spark plug
3) find a secure place to hold the "flamer kit" black box and coil in boot
4) use or make a hole from coil to sparkplug then attach sparkplug to coil using HT lead.
5) attach coil to black box
6) run wires from black box to front of car
7) attach wires to switch
8 ) attach wires from switch to 12v supply when igntion is on
so you should have:
from ignition to switch to black box to coil to sparkplug.
You need to get your engine/exhaust warmed up and then have your car in high revs and then back off as it pops and bangs.........wwwwooooooossssshhhhhhh..................flames!!!
any more questions ???

you can do it on any engine, a mate of mine has it on his twin exhaust MK2 XR2 and it looks great but i am NOT promising it will work on every car, it depends on fueling and set-up of the engine.
Fletch............running at 9% co is seriously over fueling your car
There are no "secrets" to this it is very simple but remember your local constabulary might have words to you about the dangers of flames shooting out the back of your car
