Focus ST170 detail
Hi all,
Though I would share this on here.
I done a polishing sesh on my friends Focus ST 170 on Saturday. We started at about 9ish and the car was finished just after 5.
Sadly no before pictures, I wish I had taken some now as the transformation in the depth and reflection of the paint was incredible. The whole car was detailed inc wheels, door shuts, boot shuts, engine, engine bay and interior cleaned and hovered.
I focused on the exterior paint work while my friend done the things listed above.
Firstly the car was washed using Do Do juice born to be mild, following this the car was clayed and de-tarred using megs mild clay and autoglym intensive tar remover. The car washed again and left to dry.
Next phase was to put the car in the garage, mask it up then see what was what. There were a lot of marks around the car especially on the nearside from hedges etc .
To get the paint work back to how it should be I used a combination of Menzerna PO 85RD & poor boys super swirl remover SSR2.5 on a yellow sonus cutting pad. This removed most of the defects in the paint but the machine stage took a few passes to get some of the defects out. After this the car was hand glazed using Clearkote vanilla moose glaze, sealed using poor boys EXP and then waxed using Clearkote carnauba wax.
There arnt many pics TBH as he was in a rush to get away, but the reflection and glossy’ness the paint has now is incredible. The wheels came up well, but could ideally do with a refurb.
On the whole it was well worth the effort, I would say it’s the best detail I have done before, defiantly the most rewarding. The owner was very happy with the results.
