Mike - The car I have in mind at the moment is a very thick white, but we'll see what comes along. Thanks a lot for the offer - I know it'd be in the safest hands I know!

Andy - You knew I was heading in this direction when I met up with y'all in March, if you remember? Well it's all done and dusted now, we're off the mark and loving it! Give us about two weeks and we'll be able to chip tune everything under the sun, either with plug-in chips or, for the most part, re-flashes of the ECU. No more MR2 then?

Just looked at the site again, look better with those images - mobile too so do we expect to see you at various 2008 events??
It seems you have managed to drum up quite a fair amount of work since opening, is their much competition in that area of the country??
Again keep up the good work lads

Re: For-Tune PVE - rolling road business goes live!
Andy - The remap would be a Motorsport Developments remap carried out via the diagnostic port if the car is recent enough. I suspect it's perhaps a touch old, in which case we could get in a chip for it, most likely. I will get back to you on that The MR2 was a laugh!
Chris - We are technically mobile, but after finding it a lot of hard work to get ourselves to and from events with all the equipment, it would take something major to make us do it again! We did do well to get noticed almost immediately, with a string of advertising on forums and other suitable sites on the net, some local advertising, attending two local drag events and generally meeting people and getting the word out in person and via friends. Steve had already been working under the name of PVE in the area for around the two year mark, so a lot of business has come via his good work in Chard. Unfortunately, just as we really started to get a good flow of customers through the door, the cold weather and christmas approached, so we're being patient and waiting to get through to January when things will pick up again.
That said, we will have no fewer than three cars to map over the next two weeks, with at least one more to come next month, and we're soon to become remapping dealers for Motorsport Developments - offering remaps on pretty much every modern car under the sun, reflashing the ECU via the diagnostic port. As with every other move we make, it costs a lot of money, but we are building our arsenal nicely now and can offer more by the week
There is very little competition in this part of the country - just as I was finding in Cumbria. The difference is, there is no population in Cumbria for you to take advantage of that fact, so being down here means very little competition, but also means that we are well within reach of the vast majority of the populated parts of the country. It doesn't even take Ariel half an hour to bring their cars to us, 50 miles or so from Bristol (handy for the magazines, it only takes them an hour), and we've had customers drive in from Hereford and London way 2008 should be a good year!

Well hats totally off, it seems the company is covering almost every base to draw new custom in. I too am very interested to see what 2008 brings if this is what you've achived to date.
Another company that seems to have jumped out of the woodwork this year is Tourque of the Devil, i've noticed members throughout the ford scene taking about them.
Great work lads

Hey James and Steve, have been meaning to ask for a while (as it may have not been pertinent) if you've been looking into the remapping or whatever the process might be to make our normal petrol cars be able to use bio ethanol? There's a couple of big plants built and ready to start producing a large portion of the country's fuel. They're still not saying when there will be pumps for it at most stations but when it comes I wanna get some cheap fuel!
I'm only basing this assumption that this is possible from that bio ethanol exige lotus made by playing with the ecu So if this actually isn't possible then shoot me down now!

Reginald - Cheers buddy. I should really update the photo's a bit - the workshop has improved no end, week on week, month on month Always here for your mapping needs and more!
s_p_m - I think there was a question in there somewhere! We're not looking to change the world just yet, but it's on our list of things to do We'll play with whatever we can, provided we can get the time and special fuel nozzles!

We are looking further into this and may be running one or two of our own cars on it, and on the dyno, in the not-so-distant future The South West has quite a few bio-ethanol-equipped fuel stations!

I hope things are working out well for you?

james - you talked about doing ecu flashes via the diagnostics port. Would this be possible on my foci at some point later in the year? Or possibly even setting me up a few maps to keep loaded to a flashtuner??
Its only wishfull thinking at the moment but I'm trying to figure out which direction to go with mapping once I'v done what else I want to do with my engine.

Alex - I've always lived in the West actually, and have only moved from the North West to the South West. In fact..I was BORN in the West, so think it may actually be technically impossible to say I have "gone" West at any point in my lifetime
Ollie - 1.8 16v Focus is this? We would chip that ECU, not re-programme it via the OBD port. The gains on most naturally-aspirated engines aren't enormous, so when you searched the Evolution Chips database via the "Chip tuning and remaps" page on our website, you will have seen the 9bhp gain for £275 listed. A similar amount of work goes into writing a new map for a naturally-aspirated engine as a turbocharged engine, but the gains are generally a few times smaller, so the "bang for buck" factor isn't as impressive.

Henry - I'll look into it for you when I'm back at work tomorrow. If we can supply a suitable chip, we will do so, and a before/after power run session can be bought as a package with that at the discounted rate of £30
daws - I thought I smelt something funny! We're a nip across the A303 from Yeovil, twenty minutes or so. Go to the Contact page on our website, scroll to the bottom and you'll find a handy link that'll take you to a "Directions" page

Yes it is indeed a 1.8.
I'v seen that bluefin ect dont give great increases in max output but its the increased drivability of the car that I am after from more mid range torque and better power delivery ect. I think I may get some fast road cams in there and then perhaps get custom a map done in the future. My reasons for not wanting to buy bluefin is simply because it is mapped for a standard car. I already have a decat, filter, catback and 4-1 manifold with cams to come and I doubt I would get the most out of my new parts with an out of the box map.
I wont be doing much else performance wise at this is still a family car. I am yet to buy my special car

How fast do you want to go?
I have just finished putting together a race 106. Jim finished mapping it last week. Its running essentially a 1300 block. It came out with 138bhp. Not bad for an old 1300 8v.
