As long as its running fine, has a decent set or tyres, good brake pads/ shoes, and in overall good condition it'll be ok for a wizz around a track.
It would be best to give it a good service and double check everying.

I have standard discs/calipers on my RS1800 (same as XR2i brakes) and do a good few trackdays in it and use them hard.
Aslong as you use a good quality dot 4 brake fluid and change it at least once a year (or more depending on how many trackdays you do) and use good pads it should be fine.
I currently use Mintex 1166 pads and they wont fade at all,not road legal pads though so watch it if you drive to the track with them, they dont like stopping from cold

Forgot to say anything about cooling lol.
An oil cooler is a must and idealy you need to have a gearbox cooler as the gearbox oil can get to full temp as soon as 30secs in some cars!
Not many i know use transmission coolers though and get away with including myself but after a few hard laps you can tell things are getting hot lol.
I would also say fit a new thermostat,check/renew coolant pipes and check/renew radiator.
Ive fitted bonnet raisers on my fiesta and it has helped lower water temps slightly on track.
I think that covers it all lol.

nice one guys.
for the brakes ive got some new standard discs, ferodo pads, goodridge braided hoses, and some dot 5.1, and some dot 4 fluid(dont think its got a high boiling point though). for the cooling ive got a new radiator, the hoses seem to be ok but i might uprate them before i come to do a trackday. i also have some bonnet raisers.
I dont know to much about oil coolers to be honest, whats the best type to get? how easy are they to fit?
would it be worth uprating stuff like head gasket?ive heard of cars warping the head etc on trackdays i want to do as much as possible to avoid anything like that happening.
many thanks

What grade of pads do you have?
Standard headgaskets are fine for trackuse.
I would go for a 13 or 16 row oil cooler,There easy to fit on Fiesta's.
They come with a sanwich plate where your oil filter is.

im not too sure what grade the pads are, just cheap ferodo ones, they work better than my old pads though. Are ordinary road pads ok or is it best to get some performance pads?
Ill be looking into an oil cooler next then, i think rallydesign sell a kit which comes with everything i need to fit it, where is best to mount it?
Would it be worthwhile upgrading then engine/gearbox mounts to vibratechnics parts?
cheers

I would put at least a fast road pad in such as Mintex 1144.
If you're going to fit an oil cooler make sure it's a thermostatic one or you may find the oil takes forever to come up to a good operating temperature.
Adding a diesel gearboxmount is a cheap and effective way to help things along. I ran with Vibratechnic mounts on my old 2i and they were very good

If your running standard brakes then i would go for a mintex 1166 pad.
Ive used 1155's befor and got slight fade and the pads started to crack so an 1144 would be next to useless on standard fiesta brakes and track use!
However a change of brakes means 1155 pads could be ok,i use the 1155's in the cossie on track and they work fine but i do run 4 pots/325mm discs and Castrol SRF fluid.
You need to mount the oil cooler where you can get good air flow to it if possible, and make sure any pipe work isnt to low or one trip across the grass/gravel could see the pipe being taken out resulting in a dead engine.

bonnet raisers and lots of ducting so that the gearbox and engine get heaps of air cooling.
you can loose alot of heat this way
