Ford ECU & PATS info

Postby Liebo on Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:10 pm

I bet this has been asked a million times but...

On a Ford, say a 1995 Mondeo... is the code for the imobiliser in the ECU or stored separately?

What I mean to say is, if I go down the scrappy and get an ECU, will I need to get my car re-coded?

Or will I need to get the matching master key from the donor car I get the ECU from and use that to code new keys without going to Ford?

I think you should be ok.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Ye sure cos I can't afford to be spending much cash at the moment and I have a 1.8 running on a 1.6 ECU at the moment for fear of the extra cost re-coding might involve.

Went to my local Ford Service Dept for some parts and spoke to a couple of the Mechs and both reckon the car will need coding if you change the ECU. :(

But Ford generally haven't got a fecking clue.

That age Mondeo is what is used for for the 2.0l conversions so the pats is a module external to the ecu. There shouldn't be an issue.

I'll have to try and get one cheap so if it doesn't work, I'll have not lost much.
